First Home Built by Veteran Group Welcomes Owner and Receives US Flag on "Flag Day" PDF Print E-mail

(Boling Spring)--Homes for Vets, a group dedicated to housing needy Veterans and Spouses of deceased Veterans officially welcomed the veteran receiving the house with a key, and an American Flag. Jeff Willis, the group’s founder, presented veteran, Mark Wilson, the key and watched as Wilson unfurled an American Flag and placed it on the home in observance of Flag Day.

Willis remarked, “The completion of this house is the realization of the first phase of our plans for organization.  Homes for Vets intend to place many veterans from around South Carolina in the years to come. While their time, and in some case lives, can never be fully repaid, they must be remembered and respected.  Helping out those under hardship who need housing can be part of turning around a family’s entire future.”

Willis continued, “To have this official awarding take place on ‘Flag Day’ and see Mark put that flag on the home is especially appropriate and meaningful. Homes for Vets has made it our mission to ‘stand for those who have stood for us.’ I believe today we have made great strides towards fulfilling that mission.”

Homes for Vets announced its creation in spring of 2006 and announced the awarding of the first home last Memorial Day in Greenville in Cleveland Park at the Veterans Memorial.  The first home was completed recently in Boiling Springs at 366 Bright-wick Court, Boiling Springs, SC 29316.  Donations to the 501 (C) 3 are tax deductible.
