I wonder if conservative Republicans are paying attention to the advice they are getting from liberal reporters and other opinion formers on the left.
We are being told that there are no conservative Republican candidates who can be elected, get the nomination or even get in the double digits in the opinion polls. Are we buying that contrived party line of propaganda?
We are advised by the liberals in the media that the only Republican who has a chance to win the general election against the shining stars to be nominated by the Democrats is the former mayor of New York City, Rudi Giuliani.
It is 6 months before the early primaries, and the liberals in the dominant media, even locally, have already written off any chance for Mitt Romney, Brownback, Hunter, and others, including Sen. John McCain having a chance for the Republican nomination.
It is not difficult to understand their strategy. Once they announce that Mitt Romney, Ron Paul or any other candidate doesn’t have a chance to win, they no longer believe they have an obligation to report on those candidates, unless they can report something negative or unless they show signs of moving into the competition. Should that happen, they must find something negative to report to bring the candidate down to where the liberals think they should be in the opinion polls. Then they can ignore them again.
The liberal pundits seem to have already picked the dream team for the Democrats that “only Giuliani can beat.” Of course, they are Sen. Hillary (no more Rhodham) Clinton, the former first lady and her chosen vice presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.
Any thinking American should panic in terror at the thought of that ticket having even a chance of winning in 2008. Was Obama still in Kindergarten when the mysterious death of Ron Brown occurred? Was it not Mrs. Clinton who banned Rev. Jesse Jackson from the White House?
Have Democrats forgotten the First Lady’s former law partner and White House Council whose body mysteriously showed up in a public park?
If the only chance Republicans and Democrats have is electing a CFR member socialist of the one world government and religion variety, we are in far more trouble than most Americans realize, and fair elections are relegated to the memories of the “good old days.”
Congressmen Tancredo, Ron Paul and Duncan Hunter are all decent patriotic American candidates with poorly organized and staffed campaigns. Furthermore, the liberal media will not give them fair coverage for fear that they might “catch on” with the voters and become a threat to the more liberal candidate of choice.
Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is sniping at other Republicans from the “peanut gallery,” but has not announced his candidacy. Likewise, former Sen. Fred Thompson suggested he would enter the race on Independence Day, but failed to do so.
There are many turns in events that could take place between now and the 2008 General Election when a president, the seats of all members of Congress and several Senators will be up for election. It is possible that there will be no election. Procedures are in place giving the President authority to delay the election in the event of a national emergency.
In the meantime, we should take a hard look at the track records of the candidates, not just what they say to get elected. We should support the candidate or candidates that come closest to our beliefs and oppose those who don’t match up.
We will not find a perfect candidate that agrees with us 100 percent. Furthermore, whoever is elected will inherit a bureaucracy loaded with liberals, socialists and communists to contend with while leading the nation.
We should be realistic, but not gullible or stupid.
