Congressman Presented MOAA President’s Award

Fourth Congressional District Congressman Bob Inglis was the guest speaker at the September meeting of the Military Officers Association of America, Greenville Chapter, held at the Greenville Hilton, Friday, September 21, 2007.

On behalf of Vice Admiral (Retired) Norbert Ryan, the MOAA National President, Greenville Chapter President Bert Strange, presented the President’s Award recognizing Rep. Inglis “for exceptional leadership and meritorious service in support of the objectives and programs of the Military Officers Association of America.

“During his tenure in the House, Congressman Bob Inglis has consistently ranked high among Members who have supported MOAA-backed initiatives. We’re pleased to be able to recognize our Representative in this way,” said Lt. Col. Bert Strange, USA (Ret) Greenville Chapter President.

In addition, Rep. Inglis was presented with a certificate recognizing him as an Honorary Member of the Greenville Chapter.

Inglis spent most of his time talking about his three trips to Iraq and theoretical methods of using a “carrot and stick” method to encourage the government of Iraq to do what members of the US Congress want them to do. He answered questions pertaining to the “fair tax” and the chance for Congress to make the Bush tax cuts on capitol gains, inheritance, etc. permanent. Inglis said there is “very little chance” of the tax cuts being made permanent by the Democrat Congress.

Asked the best way to contact him from Greenville County, Inglis said a call to his Greenville Office was probably the best way to contact him.

Paul Howell, the congressional staff member who handles military and veteran matters in the Greenville Office, accompanied the Congressman.

The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) is a nonprofit veteran’s association dedicated to maintaining strong national defense and to preserving the earned entitlements of members of the uniformed services and their families and survivors.

Membership is open to those who hold or have ever held a warrant or commission in any component of the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Public Health Service, or NOAA and their surviving spouses.
