Greenville native Tommy Stringer announced today, February 21, 2008, that he will campaign for election to the South Carolina State House of Representatives District 18.

The founder and president of Stringer Company, a pension compliance services firm headquartered in Greer, Stringer is completing his first term on the Coastal Carolina University Board of Trustees.

“This will be a campaign for the future,” Stringer said. “I am energized by the strong support I have already received from people in the community. As a father and businessman, I look forward to the opportunity to go to Columbia and fight for our conservative values and to help our Republican leadership make needed changes so that South Carolina can be the best place possible to live, work, and raise a family.”

Tommy Stringer was elected by the General Assembly to the CCU Board in 2006. He serves as board secretary and is chairman of the Audit Committee.

A life-long resident of Northern Greenville County, Stringer and his wife, Carrie, have a son. He has served as deacon at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenville. He received his accounting degree from Bob Jones University and attended graduate school at Clemson University.

District 18 includes Blue Ridge, Greer and Taylors.
