Group Concerned About Dogs Dominated Dialogue
Planners listed topics on butcher paper for use in planning. A group of residents collecting signatures on a petition opposed to the location of a dog rescue operation in the community dominated much of the discussion during what was intended to be a discussion of the Greenville County Comprehensive Plan. Their concern was the possibility that dog feces would get into Lake Robinson, the primary water supply for Greer. Only about 35 people attended the meeting.
Roland Pittman, a resident of the community concerned about arbitrary government restrictions on land use, said the concerns regarding dog feces and sanitation should be taken up with DHEC and not involved in comprehensive plans for ordinances governing the use of private property.
Left to right: Blue Ridge High Beta Club members, Shaun Hall, Sarah Arms, Cristi Privado, Hannah Carmichael, Lauren Raffuldt and Lindsey Barbare. Greenville County planners listed comments on butcher paper and took them with them for consideration in the formulation of a comprehensive plan for the future of Greenville County.
Members of the Blue Ridge High School Beta Club greeted attendees and cheerfully assisted both county employees and members of the community before during and after the meeting.
The next planning meeting will be held at Eastside High School Thursday, April 3rd at 6:30, followed by Mauldin High School, Monday, April 7th; Berea High School Tuesday, April 8th; Carolina High School, Thursday, April 10th; Hillcrest High School Monday, April 17th; Travelers Rest High School Tuesday, April 22nd; and Woodmont High School Thursday, April 24th. All meetings begin at 6:30 and end at 8:30 p.m.
