Crowd outside auditorium after doors locked. Scores of individuals hoping to see and hear feisty, sharp tongued author Ann Coulter during her recent trip to the Palmetto State, were locked out and turned away from Furman University’s Mc-Alister Auditorium when the Fire Marshall declared the safe load limit had been reached.
Only cameras from the daily newspaper and the local NBC TV affiliate were allowed inside.
This was clearly the largest turnout of conservatives in the Palmetto State since the Flag Rally at the state capitol and the pro-family rally held locally at Braves Stadium.
Coulter sold numerous books and signed them all as buyers lined up and headed for a table at the front of the auditorium.
The event was free to the public and sponsored by an obscure conservative organization on campus and a national affiliate group.
Coulter has been critical of GOP Presidential Candidate Sen. John McCain and gave him no slack during her Furman University performance.
