Children---Front

The Joseph Evan Davis Chapter #907 Children of the Confederacy has been actively participating in service projects for their community and around the world. In September, the Chapter collected school supplies for Armstrong Elementary, to be distributed to needy students. In October and November, the children collected Toys for Tots that were donated to the Marine Recruitment center for distribution to needy children in December. They were aided in this project by donations from Winnie Davis Chapter #442 UDC (their sponsoring chapter) and by the Greenville16th Regiment, Camp 36 SCV. Joseph Evan Davis Chapter #907 is especially grateful for both of these organizations for their generous help with many of their projects. In January and February, food for Back Pack Ministries and Angel Ministries, and clothing and household items for Miracle Hill were collected. The children continue to collect for their ongoing projects of aluminum pop tops for Ronald McDonald House, aluminum cans to benefit burn victims, canceled postage stamps for Wounded Warriors, labels and box tops for education, and miniature toiletry items. This year, thankfully, they have received such a large number of toiletries that they are able to donate them to Ronald McDonald House, Safe Harbor and Shepherd's Gate. They have donated food to the food drive of the US Postal Service. The children have made cards of appreciation for our veterans and active military. Two of the children donated hair for Beautiful Links to be made into wigs for children who are cancer patients. A generous donation was given in honor of Joseph Evan Davis Chapter #907 to Samaritan's Purse. The Chapter is presently working on a donation for the C of C President General's project for this year of "Bucks for Books" to be used for purchasing books for the library at Beauvoir, the home of Jefferson Davis. The Chapter is thankful for donations.
