After 150 years of reeducation since destruction by a 5-year war on military, civilians and private property, followed by 11 years of brutal military occupation and corrupt Carpetbag government, intended to “reconstruct” and change the culture of the South, a segment of the original southern blood-line remains unreconstructed.
These unreconstructed southerners, and others who have educated themselves on the true history of the South, are the segment remaining in the republic who continue to cling to their Bibles, guns, property rights and Constitutional guarantees of personal liberty granted by almighty God. They continue to oppose tyranny in all forms, especially from a federal government the states formed and the Constitution gives very limited power.
This segment of Americana that is no longer restricted to the states of the old South is a threat to the ruling class that call themselves “Progressives” and have zero tolerance for those who disagree with their leftist, anti-Christian, big dictatorial government stance.
The truth is that the important issues between the people of the South and the federal government in 1861 were virtually the same that exist today. It is a powerful, central government that has overstepped its constitutional powers and is out-of-control.
South Carolina and other Southern States chose to leave the Union they had created. President Lincoln went to war to prevent their departure.
The problem arises from the fact that USC Distinguished Professor Emeritus of History Clyde N. Wilson accurately states: “Millions of Americans devoutly believe that Abraham Lincoln’s war ‘to preserve the union and free the slaves’ was a righteous mission that forms the high point of our country’s history.”
Lincoln did not save the union – he subjugated the Union. Lincoln did not free a single slave in the United States and he had no authority to free slaves in the Confederacy that had become a separate country. His Emancipation Proclamation deliberately allowed people in the north to keep their slaves. More than 300,000 slave owners served in the Union Army.
General Robert E. Lee freed his slaves before the war began. Lincoln’s commander General Grant freed his after the war. When asked why he did not free his slaves sooner, Grant replied that, “Good help is hard to find these days.”
Lincoln proposed a 13th amendment to the Constitution that would make slavery permanent if the South would accept the high tariffs imposed by the Union. The Southern states refused. On July 23, 1861, The Congress unanimously passed a resolution stating why they were going to war. It did not mention slavery.
“The war is waged by the government of the United States not in the spirit of conquest or subjugation, nor for the purpose of overthrowing or interfering with the rights or institutions of the states, but to defend and protect the Union.” Clearly Lincoln’s war against the South had nothing to do with slavery. Slavery became an issue later because of its emotional propaganda value to incite rebellion in the South and instill hatred for the South among people of the North.
Abraham Lincoln, in his own words, declared himself to be a white supremacist.
“If I could save the union without freeing a single slave I would do it.”
“I have no purpose directly or indirectly, to interfere with the institution of slavery in the states where it exists. I believe I have no lawful right to do so and I have no inclination to do so.”
In order for Progressives to fully implement their godless dictatorial agenda, the segment of American society represented most vividly by the former Confederacy and any symbols that serve as reminders of its existence must be destroyed.
A rational discussion of this matter is difficult because the history of both sides of the unnecessary conflict – mislabeled the “American Civil War” – has been distorted to justify the war and the untold intentional atrocities committed on innocent black and white civilians by the invading Union troops. Reconstruction continues. The competing issues are the same and the equivalent of carpetbaggers and scalawags are participants. Mr. Lincoln’s overbearing unconstitutional government is becoming the “plantation” to which we are all slaves.
