Planned Parenthood's Obscene Profits
Written by Michelle Malkin
Jun 11, 2008 at 12:00 AM

GOP presidential candidate John McCain sounded more like a Democratic presidential candidate (a recurring trend) when he joined the Left's oil industry bashers a few weeks ago. Asked by a North Carolina voter whether he supported a Jimmy Carter-era windfall profits tax, McCain responded: "Um, I don't like obscene profits being made anywhere -- and I'd be glad to look not just at the windfall profits tax -- that's not what bothers me -- but we should look at any incentives that we are giving to people or industries or corporations that are distorting the market."

Chinese Poisons in Your Medicine Cabinet
Written by Phyllis Schlafly
Jun 11, 2008 at 12:00 AM
"Chinese Counterfeits and American Failures," the title of a congressional hearing on April 29, laid bare a shocking problem. At least 81 U.S. deaths appear to be the result of the Communist Chinese counterfeiting an ingredient in a blood-thinner widely used in surgery, plus the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA) failure to inspect the Chinese imports.

Ship of Fools

On February 17, Kosovo unilaterally declared its independence from Serbia, thus creating a predominantly Muslim state in Europe. Kosovar independence was immediately recognized by Britain, France, Germany, Belgium and the United States. Indeed, had not Kosovo been assured of recognition and thereby protection by the United States and the leading nations of the European Union, its ruling “party,” the Kosovar Liberation Army (KLA), would not have been so bold. In addition, a United Nations (UN) and North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) peacekeeping force has policed Kosovo since 1999.

Challengers Given Opportunity to Speak

Newly elected GOP National Committeeman Glenn McCall.
More than 600 delegates attended the South Carolina Republican Convention in Columbia, Saturday, May 31. Governor Mark Sanford, in the view of many, gave his best-ever address to the delegates. It was clearly from the heart and he apparently strayed from the prepared script several times to emphasize important points. He described clearly what has happened to the Republican Party at the state and national levels in recent years and laid the blame squarely at the feet of elected officials. Sanford exceeded his allotted time, explaining that he had some things he needed to say. The delegates responded with several rounds of applause and a thunderous standing ovation.

Liberal Media Gets it Wrong Again
Written by Bob Dill, Publisher
Jun 04, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Those who only get their news from the liberal media   may have concluded that the election of Glenn McCall as South Carolina Executive Committeeman to the Republican National Committee was somehow a defeat or rejection of Christian conservatives. Nothing could be further from the truth.

A New Argument About Immigration
Written by Phyllis Schlafly
Jun 04, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Many arguments, pro and con, about how to deal with illegal aliens have been passionately debated over the past couple of years, but there are still other arguments that need public exposure. Mark Krikorian presents a new argument in his forthcoming book called "The New Case Against Immigration: Both Legal and Illegal."

Will Incumbents Survive Primary?
Written by Bob Dill, Publisher
May 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM

An anti-incumbent movement has surfaced in the Palmetto State this election season, at least in the Upcountry. It is aimed primarily at state senators, but seems to have spilled over into other races. Both Democrats and Republicans seem to have the anti-incumbent fever.

Open Borders Prove "War On Terror" Is Superficial
Written by Chuck Baldwin
May 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM

The American people were led to believe that America's fine men and women in uniform were sent halfway around the world to Iraq and Afghanistan to fight a "war on terror." Of course, everyone now knows that Saddam Hussein had nothing to do with the attacks on September 11, 2001. I am sure that most everyone also remembers that the vast majority of the terrorists who participated in those attacks were from Saudi Arabia, not Iraq. Yet, Saudi leaders continue to enjoy the coziest of relationships--and, dare I say, friendships--with President George W. Bush.

Barack Obama: Gaffe Machine
Written by Michelle Malkin
May 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM

All it takes is one gaffe to taint a Republican for life. The political establishment never let Dan Quayle live down his fateful misspelling of "potatoe." The New York Times distorted and misreported the first President Bush's questions about new scanner technology at a grocers' convention to brand him permanently as out of touch.

Control Criminals Not Guns
Written by Walter Williams
May 28, 2008 at 12:00 AM

Every time there's a highly publicized shooting, out go the cries for stricter gun control laws, and it was no different with the recent murder of Philadelphia Police Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski. Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell and Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter, in a letter to the state congressional delegation demanding reenactment of the federal assault weapon ban, said, "Passing this legislation will go a long way to protecting those who put their lives on the line every day for us. … There is no excuse to do otherwise."

Post-Christian America

“A Victory for Equality and Justice," blared the headline above the editorial. "Momentous," "historic," "a major victory for civil rights," "a scrupulously fair ruling based on law, precedents and common sense."

This was the ecstatic reaction of The New York Times to the California Supreme Court's declaration that homosexuals have a right to marry and have their unions recognized as marriages.

Charity Victory Yields $121,500 and New BMW for First Time Winner

David Mathis holds the crystal trophy he won at the BMW Charity Pro-Am Sunday.
North Carolina native David Mathis won the BMW Charity Pro-Am Sunday, shooting a three-under par 68, and received a check for $121,500 and keys to a shiny black BMW X5.

The Thornblade Charity event was the first win for Mathis in the 34 year-old golfer’s 11-years as a pro. He scored a three-shot victory over Roger Tambellini to take the huge crystal trophy on a blustery Sunday afternoon when the raindrops held off until after play had ended.

Mathis was rewarded with a hug by his greatest fan and morale builder, his wife Chastity. David and Chastity have been married only two years having met in church in Raleigh, North Carolina.

An estimated record crowd of 50,000 attended the eighth annual BMW Charity Pro-Am at Thornblade, that was supported by hundreds of volunteers from local organizations.

Although unable to walk due to severe wounds,   he supervised the evacuation of casualties and only after being assured of the safety of his men, did he allow himself to be evacuated.

Lieutenant General Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr. plots strategy at his command post.
It goes without saying that death respects no person. It is still odd, however, that in the crucial battle of Okinawa (the last major battle of World War II) the three top ranking opposing  generals lost their lives within a few days of each other, near the end of a titanic struggle that claimed over 200,000 casualties on both sides, including civilians.

These officers included Lieutenant General Simon Bolivar Buckner, Jr., the highest ranking American officer to die in combat during the war, and his two principal Japanese adversaries, Lieutenant General Mitsuru Ushijima, commander of the Japanese 32nd Army, and his chief of staff, Lieutenant General Isamu Cho, both of whom chose suicide to defeat.
