Citizens Demanding Control of Border
A grass roots uprising overwhelmed the U. S. Senate with phone calls and emails, and last Thursday the resurrected comprehensive immigration bill supported by President Bush and a coalition of Democrat and Republican Senators went down to defeat with a thud heard round the world.

Most people don’t think about chimney sweeps. When they do, they think of birds that live in chimneys, or of Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins. Those who think of birds are mistaken, as those birds are called Chimney Swifts. However, Van Dyke’s character Bert was, among other things, a chimney sweep.

major wars, minor conflicts, turmoil, depression, and dissension,
America, for the most part, has been able to maintain the fundamental
