A grass roots uprising overwhelmed the U. S. Senate with phone calls and emails, and last Thursday the resurrected comprehensive immigration bill supported by President Bush and a coalition of Democrat and Republican Senators went down to defeat with a thud heard round the world.

Every country goes through changes. However, stable countries are able to maintain their basic culture, identity, language, and heritage throughout the various gradations of societal evolution.
