INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

United States Senator Tim Scott was the featured speaker at a dual county fundraiser last Tuesday evening.

Spartanburg and Greenville County Republican Parties teamed up to sponsor the event held in Greer and attended by a packed house.

Fourth District Congressman Trey Gowdy, the serious former prosecutor and chairman of the select committee investigating the Benghazi scandal, demonstrated that he has a sense of humor, as he introduced Senator Scott. TreyGowdy_Page-16

South Carolina’s Junior United States Senator turned the humor on Gowdy, commenting on his “hair style of the day.” On a more serious note, Scott credited Gowdy for being his most valuable advisor since he arrived in Washington.

Chicken for the dinner was provided by Chic-filet. It was a Chic-filet manager in Charleston that took an interest in an employee with a lot of potential and taught a young Tim Scott about work ethic and the Free Enterprise System.

Both Scott and Gowdy are up for reelection in November and both should win their election easily.

Congressman Gowdy, whose Benghazi hearings are scheduled to begin later this month, slipped out as soon as Senator Scott finished speaking. Scott left immediately also, heading to a meeting with a TV reporter.

There was little discussion of the heavy topics of national security, border security and things like the IRS that were on the minds of most concerned citizens. In some respects, the light-hearted topics were refreshing.
