There are many people who say that our only serious immigration problem is that there are 12 million immigrants in the country who are technically illegal. These people tend to believe that the only problem with 500,000 illegal immigrants per year is that they are, in liberal-speak, “undocumented.” They believe that everything would be fine if legal immigration were made easier and employers could have more legal guest-workers. The problem with this is that our legal immigration levels are also unprecedented. Legal immigration is now averaging about 1.0 million per year. Previous to 1987, it averaged only 300,000 per year, and the rate of illegal immigration was much lower. According to Harvard labor economist, George Borjas, himself a Cuban immigrant, a total immigration level of about 500,000 per year is the maximum that will not hurt native-born Americans and their families.
Readers of this publication know that most Sustainable Development policy has not come directly from laws passed in Congress. Rather it has been invoked through international treaties, Executive Orders, grant offerings and behind-the-scene “comprehensive plans” in local communities. Henry Lamb of Sovereignty International in a recent DeWeese Report states that “that’s about to change.”
Over the years as I have traveled to many states and driven thousands of miles, I have visited so many interesting sites that I have even seen fit to pay a second and even a third visit to some of them – places such as the battlefields of Shiloh and Spotsylvania Courthouse.
In the last several travel articles I have been recounting a trip I took this past August to southern Tennessee and southeastern Missouri. As I began heading back toward South Carolina I decided to revisit a few places that I first visited 12 years earlier, on a trip I took in 1997.
One of those places was the small town of Cairo (pronounced Kay-ro), Illinois, which is located at the southernmost tip of the long state of Illinois.
The “handwriting is on the wall,” 2010 is not going to be a good year for RINOs. In case you have not been paying attention, RINO is a liberal, moderate or progressive politician that, in order to get elected in a conservative district or state, places an “R” after his or her name, runs in a Republican primary election, and becomes a “Republican in name only” (RINO).
The Republican Party in its effort to become a powerful force for good government was willing to compromise principles in order to gain majority control of the South Carolina State House and Senate and both houses of Congress in Washington, D. C. Republicans not only accepted Democrat office holders into their party, but encouraged change of party label in order to add numbers and become the majority party.
Republicans gathered for an evening of food and ballroom dancing at Augusta Manor, Feb. 6, to celebrate the 99th birthday of President Ronald Reagan.
Patrick Haddon, Chairman of the Greenville County Republican Party and Harry Kibler, founder of “RINO Hunt” and spokesman for the South Carolina Tea Party Coalition publicly agreed to establish a means of working together to elect constitutional conservatives to public office during the meeting of the Greenville County Republican Party Executive Committee, Monday night.
Christina Jeffrey, a candidate for the fourth district U.S. congressional seat, and Leighton Lord, a candidate for South Carolina attorney general, spoke to the Greenville County Republican Women (GCRW) meeting at the Poinsett Club, Jan. 28.
Dr. Jeffrey, a lecturer at Wofford College, who is seeking the Republican nomination for the seat held by incumbent Rep. Bob Inglis, said, “I am first and foremost a Christian,” and “I believe that a great country is an important asset” for Christians.
Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson Founder and President of BOND Action has called for the resignation of Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC).
In a recent statement, Rev. Peterson elaborated on his statement.
“Despite the hope that many Republicans see in a Scott Brown victory, the Republican Party has a serious problem - - namely Michael Steele. In the short time since Steele was elected - - he’s acted less like a friend and more of a foe to conservatives.
Judicial Watch, a “constitutionally conservative, nonpartisan educational foundation that promotes transparency, accountability and integrity in government politics and the law,” requested and received documents showing the cost of House speaker Nancy Pelosi’s travels by US Air Force Jet during the past two years.
Judicial Watch reported that the 2,000 pages of documentation they obtained under the provisions of the Freedom of Information Act show Pelosi’s travel cost the U. S. Air Force $2,100,744.59 over a two year period. In-flight expenses including food and alcohol totaled $101,429.14.

Greenville County Sheriff Steve Loftis and Pickens County Sheriff David Stone have endorsed WaltWilkins, Republican candidate for 13th Circuit Solicitor.
“I’ve worked closely with Walt Wilkins and I trust him. I am impressed with his sense of ethics and the high standards of conduct he set for himself and everyone in the US Attorney’s office. As our next Solicitor, Walt will not play politics and there will be no favors, favorites or backroom deals. If you break the law Sheriff Stone and I are going to arrest you and Walt Wilkins will put you in jail,” said Sheriff Loftis.
Ted Adams, chairman of the South Carolina Constitution Party at right, introduces Constitution Party Chairman James Clymer to a Greenville Audience at Greenville Technical College. Clymer and Adams were instrumental in founding the party more than a decade ago that is now active in all 50 states. Pastor Tony Romo was host for the event.
During the 2008 presidential campaign, Hillary Clinton described herself as a “progressive.” About that time a member of Greenville County Council used the descriptive term. The terms “liberal” and “leftist” and “socialist” have become unpopular with liberals, leftists and socialists. They prefer the term “progressive.” It sounds good to the rank and file American. It implies the individual has a positive outlook and favors progress.
The Republican Party has the greatest opportunity in a decade to change national, state and local government for the better this year. However, there are perilous obstacles along the way that could derail the opportunity and become disastrous for both the party and the nation. An objective look at recent history is beneficial to understand the current situation and plot a way forward.
A large influx of social and fiscal conservatives became involved in the political process during the 1980s through organizations such as the Moral Majority and Christian Coalition. The “Rockefeller” style, country club, establishment republicans distrusted these energetic newcomers, but eventually found a way to harness their energy and build a powerful political movement that eventually controlled the White House and both houses of Congress.
The South Carolina State Senate finally passed a sovereignty resolution that had been held over from last year.
With Tea Party and Taxpayer activists looking over their shoulders, Senators passed the resolution in the second week of their business that will formally remind all branches of the federal government that their powers are limited by the United States Constitution.
It further reminds the federal government that it has no authority to demand purchase of healthcare insurance by the citizens of South Carolina.
The Lee – Jackson Dinner at the Airport Marriott, Saturday night, was musical and historical from beginning to end. Featured was a historic journey through the 1860s with Stan Clardy and his stories, songs and guitar along with the Joyful Harps featuring Heather and Raquelle Sheen.
The occasion was celebration of the birthdays of two of the nation’s greatest military leaders who were graduates of the Military Academy at West Point who have a reputation for honor and patriotism “etched in stone,” despite efforts of revisionists to distort their character.
Walt Wilkins has announced that he will seek the Republican nomination to become the next 13th Circuit Solicitor.
Wilkins, the former US Attorney for South Carolina, and the son of Judge Billy Wilkins, brings proven experience and a record of accomplishment to the race.
“During my five years in the US Attorney’s office, I prosecuted hundreds of cases involving violent crime, street gangs, narcotics and illegal immigration. We worked with a number of state and federal agencies and dismantled several violent street gangs. We broke up an international drug smuggling ring and indicted 110 people.
On Thursday night at Greenville Technical College, Upstate residents will have an opportunity to hear a nationally acclaimed Constitutional Attorney assess the first year of the Obama Administration and its impact on the freedom and civil rights guaranteed for all Americans by the Constitution of the United States.
It’s election year. We have a radical in the White House, revolutionaries in control of the Congress and a large segment of the electorate is confused. That makes for a dangerous mixture for law-abiding citizens who don’t particularly care for excitement of the violent variety.
A large segment of my generation don’t even watch violent movies; we saw enough carnage in Korea and Vietnam to last a lifetime. We sympathize with the troops trying to fight a war when the civilian leaders are not interested in winning and don’t have the courage or the integrity to admit it. We detest a civilian population that is disinterested in national defense unless they have a son or brother whose life is on the line in Iraq, Afghanistan or elsewhere.
The White House Office of the Press Secretary released a report on the White House web site titled "President Obama Signs Executive Order Establishing Council of Governors." According to the press release, "The President today [January 11, 2009] signed an Executive Order establishing a Council of Governors to strengthen further the partnership between the Federal Government and State Governments to protect our Nation against all types of hazards. When appointed, the Council will be reviewing such matters as involving the National Guard of the various States; homeland defense; civil support; synchronization and integration of State and Federal military activities in the United States; and other matters of mutual interest pertaining to National Guard, homeland defense, and civil support activities."
About 100 people showed up to hear Greenville family physician Tom Kendall speak this past Saturday at the semi-annual luncheon of the Americans for Constitutional Government study group. The ACG usually meets every fourth Monday of the month at the Symmes branch of the Greenville County Public Library on Pelham Road. The next meeting will be on the 4th Monday in February at 10:00 a.m.
Dr. Kendall began his remarks by greeting those in attendance “in the name of the Great Physician.” His topic was the current state of health care in America. He said that God was stirring him to be more vocal in the public arena about the trends he sees in health care and how government is adversely impacting these trends. He said that he felt compelled to speak out.
Let us resolve to return sovereignty to the people of South Carolina. It will not be easy. A revolt has taken place within government, a revolt against our Constitution. Government of, for, by the people has been overthrown. To reclaim our rights we will contend with a foe as powerful as the British monarchy our founders confronted. We will need their courage and perseverance in adversity. But we too can be victorious.
Officer Widmer's K-9 partner, Baron, posing with his latest find. Officer Widmer conducted a traffic stop because he had information that the vehicle was bringing a pound of marijuana into our city to sell. Baron alerted on the vehicle and he located the marijuana in the trunk.
Officer Widmer then arrested the car's two occupants, one of whom also had several controlled pills in his possession. That suspect is also wanted by an agency in Virginia and they stated that they will come and get him. The female suspect gave consent to search her residence in Pickens County. Officer Widmer assisted the Pickens County Sheriff's Office in the search and they seized three more pounds of marijuana.
Chicago publisher William Boyce founded the Boy Scouts of America on February 8, 1910. The local celebration of the 100th birthday of the Boy Scouts was launched in Upstate, South Carolina, at the Upstate History museum in Greenville, January 9 and 10 with a visit of national Boy Scout leaders and display of two of Norman Rockwell’s famous paintings honoring the service of scouts.
Christians who have attempted to grow in the faith and study their Holy Bible know the prophetic signs of the approach of the “last days.” They have been warned of the slick appealing words of false prophets that are wolves in sheep’s clothing and are capable of deceiving “the very elect.” Few “born again” Christians would deny that there are indications that we are living in those last days before the return of our Lord, although no man knows the day or the hour.
The more I see and hear of what is going on in our nation's Capital the more certain I become that we have filled it with traitors and haters of our Republic. Their major goal is not simply to feather their own nest, as is the goal of many politicians, but to destroy the government of the world's greatest experiment in freedom and liberty. Their target is Biblical Christianity. Whatever their professed religions may be, Christian freedom is anathema to them.
Panic is an ugly thing … especially when it rises out of a sense of political desperation. Right now, the political Left is coming unhinged at precisely the moment a very real sense of cohesion is beginning to build on the political right. At this writing, polls show a Democrat meltdown in Massachusetts with Republican Scott Brown surging to as much as a nine point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley.
The National High School Rodeo Association Wrangler Division, the newest junior high school rodeo program in America has appointed Leah Hunter, daughter of Rock and Jenny Hunter of Greer and a seventh grader at Blue Ridge Middle School, to the NHSRA Wrangler Division All Star Rodeo Team.
The Wrangler Division All-Star Rodeo Team is fashioned after Wrangler’s Champion Pro Rodeo Team.
This week’s feature group is Gold City. The group is made up of quite an array of talent. Some of its members have sung with some of the best groups in the business. Let’s take a look at the members of Gold City, but first let’s look at the founder who had retired from the road but is back with the group on a permantent basis, Tim Riley.
Do you remember the saying, “When the going gets tough the tough get going?” Or, how about, “Winning isn’t everything, it’s the only thing.” I think this one is my favorite, “Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible.”
These are all fairly famous quotes on desire and determination to win. The spirit of America is the spirit of winning. Maybe Patton said it best to his troops in the movie that bears his name. “Americans love a winner. Americans will not tolerate a loser. Americans despise cowards. Americans play to win all the time. That’s why Americans have never lost nor will ever lose a war; for the very idea of losing is hateful to an American.”
Cynthia Zerga-Patnall appeared before the Greenville County Legislative Delegation, Monday evening, proposing specific legislation designed to prevent teen hoodlums from harassing law-abiding citizens on city streets and in neighborhoods and other public places. She proposed state laws that would hold parents responsible and accountable for all of their children until the age of 18 years.
Zerga-Patnall had addressed the delegation previously regarding teens in her neighborhood using abusive and threatening language when addressing girls and ladies on the sidewalks in the neighborhood.
