Far Left Democrat Judge Coming to SC?
- By SC Freedom Caucus
Another Black Eye on the Republican Supermajority
The way South Carolina selects judges is rife with corruption and conflicts of interests—lawyer legislators handpick the very judges they argue cases in front of and ballots are counted in secret by legislators to avoid on the record votes.
Sadly, time and time again, those judges are liberals who legislate from the bench despite the fact that Republicans hold supermajorities in both Chambers. Even more surprisingly, these judges are often spouses, immediate family members, or law partners of sitting legislators—or even former legislators themselves.
So who is the establishment’s top pic for judge this time? Former Democrat lawyer-legislator and former Democratic Party nominee for governor James Smith.
The REAL Story of the Two Americas
- By Stephen Moore
For the past 30 years or so, the Left has invented a narrative that there are two Americas: a group of very super-rich people (the one-percenters) who have prospered over the past several decades, and everyone else who has gotten poorer. It's a fairy-tale narrative because almost all Americans have seen financial progress. The median household income adjusted for inflation rose by more than 40% since 1984.
Prosperity isn't an "us vs. them" zero-sum game. A rising tide really does lift all boats.
But there really are two Americas today. First, there are the cultural and overeducated snobs -- the kind of people who religiously read The New York Times, drive electric vehicles, wear Harvard or Yale sweaters, and have never even heard of NASCAR or eaten at Popeyes or ridden a John Deere tractor.
State Corporate Income Tax Rates and Brackets, 2024
- By Tax Foundation
Key Findings
- Forty-four states levy a corporate income tax. Top rates range from a 2.5 percent flat rate in North Carolina to a 9.8 percent top marginal rate in Minnesota.
- Four states—Alaska, Illinois, Minnesota, and New Jersey—levy top marginal corporate income tax rates of 9 percent or higher.
- Twelve states—Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Utah—have top rates at or below 5 percent.
- Nevada, Ohio, Texas, and Washington impose gross receipts taxes instead of corporate income taxes. Delaware, Oregon, and Tennessee impose gross receipts taxes in addition to their corporate income taxes. Some localities in Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia likewise impose gross receipts taxes, which are generally understood to be more economically harmful than corporate income taxes.
- South Dakota and Wyoming are the only states that levy neither a corporate income nor gross receipts tax.
Corporate income taxes are levied in 44 states. Though often thought of as a major tax type, corporate income taxes accounted for only 7.07 percent of state tax collections and 3.32 percent of state general revenue in fiscal year (FY) 2021. And while these figures are not high, they represent a substantial increase over prior years. Corporate income taxes accounted for 2.27 percent of general revenue in FY 2020, which is more in line with historical norms.
Reviewing the Immigration Disaster
- By Mike Scruggs
Congressional Immigration Grades for NC and SC
According to the Federation of Americans for Immigration Reform (FAIR), illegal immigrants were costing American taxpayers $182.1 billion per year at the beginning of 2023. These illegal immigrants contribute only $31.4 billion in federal, state, and local taxes paid, leaving American taxpayers with a net cost of $150.7 billion per year. Also according to FAIR, there were 15.5 million illegal immigrants in the U.S at the beginning of 2022, and President Biden’s unlawful Open Border policy has added another 6.0 million in just two years, bringing it to 21.5 million. Many knowledgeable immigration scholars believe illegal immigrants may now number well over 30 million, and thus the net 2023 fiscal cost for illegal immigration was far in excess of $200 billion. The truth is that we have completely lost control of immigration and the ability to estimate and contain its mounting fiscal costs.
Bridge, Road Work in SC Still Moving Slowly with Gas-tax-hike Money
- By Rick Brundrett - The Nerve
In recently announcing his proposed nearly $41 billion total state budget for fiscal 2025, Gov. Henry McMaster recommended using a projected $500 million school-fund surplus for emergency bridge replacement and repairs.
“Many of these bridges are 60, 70 and even in excess of 80 years old and are crumbling before our eyes each day,” McMaster said in a Jan. 5 press release. “Too many have been closed, while others are in such a state of disrepair that the required restrictions render them useless for commercial trucking, school buses, or fire trucks needed to serve our state’s increasing population.”
CIVILIZATION’S INTERREGNUM – Part 8
- By W.H. Lamb
THE DARK TIME
(CA. 2300 A.D.—CA. 2400’s A.D.)
(A continuation of a lecture by a fictional “history professor” to a class of young adults, sometime in the 32nd century.)
“We ended our last class session as one of the most gruesome and evil episodes in mankind’s history—“The Nationality Wars”—began to run down, leaving those who survived to face an even more terrible scenario. During the period of these “Nationality Wars” (ca. late 2100s A.D. – early 2300s A.D.), another religious group was attacked by the mostly Christian, or pseudo-Christian, survivors or descendants of those who had lived in the Old United States.
“People of the “Moslemist Faith” were hunted down and killed or driven into exile into Old Mamoda. This conflict appears to have begun during the early decades of The Nationality Wars, and may have been precipitated by the violence between the Chin Empire and the New Euro “Inshalists” (a Euro sect of the Moslemists of the Great Northern Continent, or GNC). By the mid point of The Nationality Wars most of the Moslemists of the GNC had escaped into what was known then as The Mamooden Protectorate, taking their faith with them. This religious tradition became the dominant (and only) religious belief allowed in Old Mamooda, and was known as “Mamoodism”, or “The Mamooden Faith” by the early 2500’s A.D.
GOP Experts Warn Candidates to Stop Treating Abortion ‘Like a Hot Stove’ They Won’t Touch
- By Suzanne Bowdey - The Washington Stand
Nobody likes a wimp — and on the issue of abortion, the Republican Party has plenty of them. After the Dobbs ruling put the issue back in legislators’ hands, a shocking number of GOP candidates spent the 2022 and 2023 elections cowering in the collective corner, hoping voters would take their silence as confirmation that they had a reasonable position on life (despite the Democrats’ 24/7 ads to the contrary). Now, staring down a high-stakes November where this issue has the potential to upend all of the GOP’s momentum, more voices are urging the party to get off the sidelines and fight.
Dancing on Roe's Grave: Nearly 140 Abortion Clinics Closed Since its Overturn, More Victories to Come
- By Operation Rescue
WASHINGTON -- As the pro-life movement victoriously marks the 50th National March for Life, abortion clinic closures are celebrated around the nation. Millions of courageous and caring individuals and groups have gathered and marched in solidarity for the rights of preborn children in Washington, D.C., for decades.
This year's national March for Life is being held three days prior to the anniversary of that horrendously unjust decision and less than two years after the anniversary of the day it was finally overturned – June 24, 2022. For pro-lifers, the celebration of that day continues, but the fight to protect innocent, preborn children also rages on.
Candidates: Don't Let Interest Costs Derail Your Presidential Plans
- By Veronique de Rugy
Remember when Republicans on the campaign trail would talk about how they would make sure to put the U.S. on a fiscally sane path? I miss that time. While a few of the current crop have paid lip service to the idea of constraining spending, no one seems to have a clear plan about how to do it.
It's unfortunate. Letting the spending trajectory we're on further deteriorate will hinder any plans these candidates have for their presidency. It could even jeopardize the fight against inflation.
As a reminder of our fiscal situation, according to the Congressional Budget Office, we were running a $1.5 trillion deficit in May 2023. That's quite a spectacular number whether in a time of full employment, economic downturn or emergency. This is in large part due to the spectacular increase in spending to $6.4 trillion. Data compiled by Brian Riedl show that in a little less than two years, "President Biden added $4.8 trillion to 10-year deficits." As a result, deficits are now projected to exceed $3 trillion in a decade.

Eagle Forum Applauds Withdrawl of NAC rule by SEC
Eagle Forum President Kristen A. Ullman released the following statement in response to the Securities and Exchange Commission Notice of Withdrawal of Proposed Rule Change for Natural Asset Companies:
Americans across the country who believe in property rights and understand that the natural assets of our great land should not be for sale to the highest bidder, including foreign sovereign wealth funds, are grateful that the SEC has withdrawn this proposed rule today.
Is There Any Evidence for Biblical Creation - Part 4
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
One piece of evidence of Biblical Creation that has gotten better as the topic has been researched is planetary magnetic fields. Called “Dynamic Decay Theory,” this model started with the observed decay in the Earth's magnetic field, and it has led to a complete model planetary magnetic field. This model not only explains aspects of these magnetic fields that the uniformitarian dynamo theory cannot explain, but it also does a better job predicting planetary magnetic fields.
SC House Passes Bill to Ban Childhood Gender Transitions!
- By South Carolina Freedom Caucus
But not before the RINOs get a beatdown from the grassroots.
The South Carolina House of Representatives passed the “Help, Not Harm Bill” today.
This bill bans genital mutilation surgery (also known as transgender surgery), puberty blockers, and hormone therapy for anyone under the age of 18.
The bill also prohibits state funds from being used directly or indirectly for gender transitions.
Freedom Caucus member SC Rep. Stewart Jones (R-Laurens) filed a bill to ban these harmful procedures that cause irrevocable injury over a year ago. Sadly, liberal House leadership didn’t give the bill a hearing and sat on this important legislation while kids were being harmed for over 13 months.
Human Life International at March for Life to Open Eyes to America's Role in Worldwide Abortion
- By Human Life International
WASHINGTON -- The United States most prolific export is not petroleum, automobiles, or electronics, but abortion, according to Human Life International, the largest global pro-life authority. The US-based organization works worldwide to end abortion and will be present at the national March for Life Expo, January 17 to 19, 2024, to help open American eyes to this country's role in the global massacre of preborn children.
"Pro-life Americans are very aware of abortion's horrific impact on our country," explained Human Life International Chief Advancement Officer John Martin, "but I wonder how many are cognizant of the devasting toll that abortion is wreaking around the world."
He Blew the Whistle. Now the Feds Are Punishing Him for It.
- By Joshua Arnold - The Washington Stand
Eight months after anonymously blowing the whistle on Texas Children’s Hospital’s (TCH) transgender program, a surgeon has gone public with a tale of relentless persecution by the Biden administration. Dr. Eithan Haim would have preferred to remain anonymous, but he said the Biden administration’s “blatant attempt at political intimidation” forced him to go public, after a federal criminal investigation buried him and his wife in $250,000 of legal fees without ever filing charges.

'Letter to the American Church' Issues Urgent Call to the Church to Counter Cultural Challenges from New York Times Bestselling Author Eric Metaxas, Turning Point's Charlie Kirk plus Others
Premieres Thursday, February 8 on EpochTV
WASHINGTON -- Today's American Church faces a crucial decision: the choice to silently abandon its mission of proclaiming liberty or to stand up to the forces of evil that are slowly enslaving our culture. In the 1930s, the German Church watched as a diabolical regime destroyed the soul of its country. Their choice was silence. The new documentary adaptation of Eric Metaxas' best-selling book, Letter To The American Church, reveals the attempted Marxist takeover of the American Church putting millions in peril and argues that the Church's decision to stay out of politics undermines its power to transform every sphere of human existence. American Letter Productions and Turning Point USA are set to release the film, based on the same name as the book, on EpochTV Thursday, February 8 accompanied by a national church tour.
New Bank Regulations Will Hurt Small Businesses and Middle-Class Borrowers the Most
- By Stephen Moore
The rapid succession of bank failures last spring clearly spooked federal regulators at the FDIC, the Federal Reserve Board and bank depositors. The bad decision-making at Silicon Valley Bank, Signature Bank and First Republic Bank caused the regulators to implement emergency life preserver measures to banks and conjured up memories of the 2008 financial crisis.
But as the saying goes, in Washington a crisis is always a terrible thing to waste, and so we are seeing a reflexive response for more government intervention. No surprise that Senate Democrats immediately pounced into action, calling on federal regulators to add another layer of rules including a complex increase in capital requirements on the U.S. banking system. Reacting quickly, the Federal Reserve, with the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency and the FDIC, released a joint proposal for the U.S. implementation of the "Basel III regulatory framework." These are complex rules, but in a nutshell, these rules would increase the amount of money that banks hold in reserve by 25%.

Abortion, Sacred Truths and Politics
- By Star Parker
Speaking in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, on Jan. 6, President Biden said that the 2024 election is about whether "democracy" is "still America's sacred cause."
But is democracy "sacred"?
Is the process by which we make choices "sacred," or is what we choose "sacred"?
This is the time of year we think about sanctity of life. Although Roe v. Wade is no longer law of the land, the abortion issue is still very much before us as the U.S. Congress and as states across the nation work to crystallize what the next chapter will look like regarding abortion policy in our country.
Eagle Forum Applauds Appeals Court Decision to Allow Alabama to Protect Vulnerable Children
- By Eagle Forum
Children in Alabama Should be Helped, Not Harmed by Irreversible Treatments
Eagle Forum, together with Alabama Eagle Forum, applauds the decision of the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to lift the injunction against the Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection (VCAP) Act and allow the law to go into effect pending a decision on the merits expected later this year.
“We are grateful for the decision by the 11th Circuit to allow Alabama to enforce protections for vulnerable children suffering from gender dysphoria. The so-called ‘treatments’ with puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones permanently alter the healthy bodies of children and impair their futures. The action by the Court yesterday will finally allow the VCAP law to go into effect after more than 18 months of delay,” said Eagle Forum President Kris Ullman.
Huge Win for Liberty! But It's Not Over...
- By SC Freedom Caucus
Yesterday, grassroots conservatives across SC won in a major way!
Earlier this week, establishment Republicans and Democrats attempted to ram through a major rules change to prohibit conservatives in the SC House of Representatives from being able to offer amendments on legislation in certain situations. The rule was straight out of the Nancy Pelosi playbook. Thankfully, we had just enough time to sound the alarm to grassroots leaders across the state.
Because of YOU we were able to stop the rule change! ... But only for now ...
Defining Courage and Character
- By Mike Scruggs
The Dust Off Patriotism of Patrick Grady
On December 24, 2023, the Atlanta Vietnam Veterans Business Association (AVVBA) released a 47-minute video, entitled The Truths and Myths of the Vietnam War. The video is introduced by Academy Award-nominated actor Sam Elliot. The first section of the video beginning at about one minute and 14 seconds and lasting a little over a minute features retired Army Major General Patrick Henry Grady, a Vietnam Medal of Honor recipient, explaining the significance of the Vietnam War and the importance of understanding it on a factual and truthful basis. In a later portion of the video, beginning at 9 minutes and 10 seconds , he narrates many of the tremendous and unprecedented humanitarian accomplishments of the American military in Vietnam, but which were largely ignored by the media. He has often said that “humanitarianism was our great victory in that war.”
What Have You – What Have I – “Earned”?
- By W.H. Lamb
Before we begin our foray into this topic, let’s examine how Webster’s Dictionary defines the word: “earn”:
- To receive as return for effort and especially for work done or services rendered; to bring in by way of return;
- To come to be duly worthy of or entitled or suited to—i.e. ‘she earned a promotion’;
- To make worthy of or obtain for—i.e. ‘the suggestion earned him a promotion.
Seems pretty cut and dried, doesn’t it? But what does it really take to “earn” something? Obviously it takes an expenditure of time and/or effort. Often an outlay of money is involved, as in investing in more education in order to “earn” a higher income in future years (or so it used to be). According to the dictionary definitions above, there are also non-monetary ways of “earning” something, such as earning another person’s trust. This type of “earning” requires a degree of character that is sometimes more difficult to attain, and can be more challenging to accomplish.
The 15-Minute Trap
- By Amy Mek - Eagle Forum
In order to seize more control of people’s lives, Globalists are pushing the false idea that “15-minute” cities will “save the planet” and help all of humanity.
Fifteen-minute cities are popping up everywhere, and the World Economic Forum is wildly enthusiastic about them. Last year it was announced that Paris, France, would become a 15-minute city, and now the British city of Oxford is next. However, outraged Brits are fighting back.
The Oxford city council has announced that it will divide Oxford into 15-minute neighborhoods, or small 15-minute towns, which are billed as “greener, cleaner and safer.” These new “green” cities, which make services accessible to residents within 15 minutes of their homes, are supposed to “save the planet” and help all humanity.
A Case For A National Religion
- By Michael LaPierre
The excessive and overwhelming intrusion of the secular humanist belief system is dominating the spirit of America toward unhealthy conditions.
The American citizen's attachment to the secular humanist belief system found in the Secular Humanist Manifestos I, II, and III have reached a religious fervor in our country that breaches the sacred veil “established” in the First Amendment and is on par for being defined as a national religion. i.e. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof….
In other words, America is currently defying the Constitution by serving at the altar of Secular Humanism (America’s Nationally Established Church) and its well-documented offerings.
