The Tariff Road to Civil War
- By Mike Scruggs
Northern Provocation to Southern Secession
Most Americans believe that the U.S. “Civil War” was just about slavery. They have to an enormous degree been misinformed. Since the early 1960s, powerful academic and political interests have been straining every nerve to sustain the myth that the war was a glorious moral crusade against slavery. How to handle the multi-faceted problem of slavery was often a divisive issue but not in the overly-simplified moral sense that lives in postwar and modern propaganda. Had there been no Morrill Tariff, the major cotton-exporting states would not have been so strongly compelled to secede, and there might never have been a war. Recent scholarship now estimates that the total of military deaths during the Civil War was over 750,000 and that

The morning after America's long impeachment nightmare finally came to an end, Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) spoke for everyone when he said at this morning's National Prayer Breakfast, "The Lord works in mysterious ways. I do not think he could have picked a better day to bring us all together."
Are the Bells Tolling for Amy, Liz & Joe?
- By Pat Buchanan
By the end of February, the race for the Democratic nomination may have come down to a choice of one of three white men.
Two are well into their 70s, and either would be the oldest president ever inaugurated. The third is a 38-year-old gay in a same-sex marriage who would be our youngest president ever.
How is it possible, if not probable, that Bernie Sanders, Michael Bloomberg and Pete Buttigieg will be the last three Democrats standing?

What Will It Take to Stop Google's Kiddie Predators?
- By Michelle Malkin
How much more evidence do we need to compile before the federal government protects our children and fully deplatforms Google from American public schools?
The Silicon Valley behemoth has already admitted it illegally collected children's personal information on YouTube without parental consent, mines students' browsing habits and emails, and tracks kids' locations, audio and search history through Google educational apps and logons that are required for millions of students to participate in public schools.
Congress Has Hands in Union Pockets
- By Eagle Forum
The past decade has been marked by a rise of states passing Right-to-Work laws. This legislation ensures that an employee’s job is not contingent upon the worker joining a union or paying union dues. Right to work laws protect an individual’s freedom from union abuses, like funneling union money to candidates they don’t personally support or by being prevented from advocating for their own needs and instead having to rely on union leadership to bargain for their needs.
Will the Real Good Guys Please Stand Up!

WE the people who are members of various grassroots Christian Conservative groups are being vilified and called the bad guys by the mainstream media, the Democrats, and the RINOs as of lately.
WE are being portrayed as white supremacists. terrorists, scrooges, islamaphobes, bigots, conspiracy theorists, anti-education, anti-government people and mouthpieces of hatred that are causing divisiveness in our country.
WE true Christian Conservatives are none of the above.
'Albert Mohler and the Gay Revolution' -- New Documentary Exposes Sell-Out
- By Cathy Mickels
SEATTLE -- Dr. ES Williams, a member of Charles Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, in collaboration with respected researcher, Reverend Thomas Littleton, has produced a new video titled Albert Mohler and the Gay Revolution. Copts Fear Retaliation for Speaking Publicly About Persecution
- By Christian Newswire
WASHINGTON -- The National Prayer Breakfast is an annual event attended by more than 3,000 individuals from more than 120 nations. One would think it is the perfect platform to create awareness of the plight of Copts in Egypt and to solicit international assistance to improve it.
That said, every individual Copt Coptic Solidarity (CS) approached with the chance to speak at it chose to forgo the opportunity-a curious fact worth contemplating (*).
Failed Coup of a Failing Establishment
- By Pat Buchanan
It has been a bad few days for the establishment, really bad.
In a 51-49 vote, the Senate refused to call witnesses in the impeachment trial of Donald Trump and agreed to end the trial Wednesday, with a near-certain majority vote to acquit the president of all charges.
As weekend polls show socialist Bernie Sanders surging into the lead for the nomination in the states of Iowa, New Hampshire and California, the sense of panic among Democratic Party elites is palpable.
Virginia Governor Northam versus Robert E. Lee
- By Mike Scruggs
Advancing Neo-Marxism and Identity Politics by Erasing Southern Heritage
Virginia Democrat Governor Ralph Northam is pushing a bill in the Virginia Legislature to replace Robert E. Lee’s statue in the U.S. Capitol. Each state has two statues in the National Statuary Hall Collection. Virginia’s two statues are of George Washington and Robert E. Lee.
In December, Two Virginia U.S. House Representatives, Jennifer Wexton and Donald McEachin, added momentum to replacing Lee’s statue in the Statuary Hall:
Romans 13: Are Americans Being Deceived for "Lack of Knowledge"?
- By W.H. Lamb
I don’t present myself as a Biblical scholar. But I do study God’s Holy and truthful Word quite often for my own betterment, and particularly when preparing articles for this great digital newspaper, The Times Examiner. One of the parts of His Word that I am confused about is the first seven verses of Romans 13. I find it perplexing when trying to equate what my pastors over the years have told me that it meant, versus what I’ve been convinced it really means, based on the teaching of other pastors.
Economics Reality
- By Walter Williams
I have been teaching economics since 1967 -- 40 years of it at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. During that interval, economic reality has not changed. Just as Galileo's law about the independent influence of gravity on falling objects has not changed, neither have the fundamental principles of economics. Economics is fun and simple. It's made complicated by some economics professors -- fortunately, not by my colleagues at George Mason University. Let's apply some simple tools of economics to reveal outright myths, lies and tricks.
