Some of My Favorite Things
- By W.H. Lamb
A couple of years ago, for the old print version of The Times Examiner, I wrote a version of this article. I read it again recently and it gave me a few chuckles. In this time of stress and demands for “societal change”, perhaps you’ll get a few much needed laughs to brighten your day, if only for an instant or two. Many of us recall, with lots of nostalgia and fondness, that great musical film, “The Sound of Music.” We saw it in Charlotte, N.C. for the very first time in 1966, and I confess we were delighted by the wonderful music and songs of Rodgers and Hammerstein, and the interesting script, based only VERY loosely on the real history of the Von Trapp Family Singers of Austria, prior to WW11.

Judge Kavanaugh’s Character Assassins Could Be Controlling Your Medical Care
- By Marilyn M. Singleton, MD, JD
Our legislators have been at their worst over the Supreme Court confirmation of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. What a shameful display: condescending, arrogant show-boating senators questioning him in a manner reminiscent of the Grand Inquisitor. The only things missing from this B-grade movie were the rubber hoses and interrogation lights. Some of us remember that you could count on one hand the “nay” votes for the confirmations of ACLU attorney Ruth Bader Ginsberg and known conservative Antonin Scalia.
Republican Resisters!
- By Christina Jeffrey
The infantlilization of the American people is nearly complete. “Democrats” cannot accept losing the Presidency, Establishment “Republicans” in DC, like Bill Kristol and Jonah Goldberg, cannot accept losing the GOP primary, (they call themselves “Never-Trumpers”) and if that isn’t upsetting enough, there are “Republicans” in Spartanburg, including, apparently, one married to an elected official, who are still sore and resisting the newly elected chairman of the Spartanburg County Republican Party.

Since 2015,14 companies that committed to locating or expanding in South Carolina collectively repaid nearly $7 million in state grants after failing to meet job creation or investment requirements, records show.
Four of the companies closed plants in counties that received the grants, and another project never materialized, a review by The Nerve found. Three of those businesses repaid all of the awarded grants, according to a list provided by the S.C. Department of Commerce to The Nerve under the state Freedom of Information Act.

Operation Rescue Stands Behind Judge Kavanaugh in Face of Gutter-Level Attacks
- By Christian Newswire
WASHINGTON -- Despite the new vicious attacks on President Donald Trump's Supreme Court nominee, Judge Brett Kavanaugh, Operation Rescue stands strongly in support of his confirmation.
"President Trump is standing behind Judge Kavanaugh and that is good enough for me," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. "We must not allow these gutter-level unsubstantiated accusations to derail this nominee. Democrats are desperate to destroy him because they fear he will shift the balance of the court and eventually help overturn Roe v. Wade. Make no mistake - these people are more than willing to resort to lying, cheating, and destroying anyone who gets in the way of abortion on demand."
University Corruption
- By Walter Williams
I'm thankful that increasing attention is being paid to the dire state of higher education in our country. Heather Mac Donald, a fellow at the Manhattan Institute, has just published "The Diversity Delusion." Its subtitle captures much of the book's content: "How Race and Gender Pandering Corrupt the University and Undermine Our Culture." Part of the gender pandering at our universities is seen in the effort to satisfy the diversity-obsessed National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, each of which gives millions of dollars of grant money to universities. If universities don't make an effort to diversify their science, technology, engineering and math (known as STEM) programs, they risk losing millions in grant money.

Too Little, Too Late in Ambushing Kavanaugh
- By John & Andy Schlafly
Statutes of limitations are necessary, because memories fade and it is pointless to consider a “he said, she said” dispute decades later. No one should give credence to a new accusation about something minor that supposedly occurred more than three decades ago, and the Senate embarrasses itself by holding a hearing to do just that.
Brett Kavanaugh fully denies the allegation of misconduct by him at a party 36 years ago, when he was merely 17 years old, and this issue is not something that Senators should be taking seriously today. On the verge of his confirmation to the Supreme Court, this politically motivated, last-minute smear against him should be laughed off the stage.

Greenville Family Partnership Is No More!
- By Carol Reeves
Greenville County, SC – Greenville Family Partnership will no longer be Greenville Family Partnership as of October 1st. No reason to be sad though, because we have a new and improved name that we believe sums up perfectly what we strive to get youth, parents, and communities to do on a daily basis. At Greenville Family Partnership, we believe our name is more important than ever because more than 72,000 Americans died from a drug overdose in 2017, including illicit drugs and prescription opioids—a 2-fold increase in a decade. The Failed Budget Continues to Move
- By Tabitha Walter - Eagle Forum
While everyone is distracted by the Democrat obstruction of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, the Senate has passed a spending bill strangely similar to the last Omnibus, but by another name. Leadership is calling this bill a “minibus” with a continuing resolution (CR) attached. The minibus includes bills to fund Labor, Health and Human Services, the Department of Defense, the Department of Education. The CR would fund the remaining departments through December 7.
