animal-care-staffThis past Saturday, Animal Care sponsored a fun-filled holiday event for God’s precious animals and their loving owners.

The event had toys, bowls and homemade dog treats that the owners could buy as stocking stuffers for their furry friends for Christmas.

The highlight of the event was the picture with Santa. Dogs came dressed in their favorite holiday fashions from red velvet outfits to bows and ribbons; each animal was ready to sit on Santa’s lap. After getting their picture taken, their owners could sit at the craft table and create a picture frame as a gift to give to a loved one of their animal sitting with Santa.

Owners could also buy sweet goodies for themselves at the event. C.J. and Kevin Miller, volunteers for Animal Care, sat at the handmade cookies table-such delicious treats like Coconut Pecan Bars, Snicker Doodle Cookies, and hand-constructed sugar cookies that six children made and decorated the night before.

C.J and her husband loved volunteering at this holiday event. They help with Animal Care on a regular basis. They also adopted two dogs through the organization-one dog that someone threw in the trash and the other that was blind in one eye. C.J. says, “It is amazing how many of the volunteers like us that love dogs and give up their time for them.”

Over 400 hundred people attended the event. C.J., and Kevin’s table sold over $250 in baked goods. All the proceeds went to the Animal Care facility.

Everyone seemed to enjoy this festive event and left with a happy smile on their face.

Ms. Susan Bufano, Community Relations Coordinator with Animal Care,is in charge of all the events with the Animal Care Facility and takes great pride in her job. She  demonstrates such compassion for the animals that it oozes out of her skin. She was running around from table to table, smiling and laughing ... making sure each owner and four-legged guest felt welcome.
