The Warning Comes from AAA and Several Car Manufacturers. E15 is Coming to a Station near you Soon. Beware! It can Void Your Warranty and Destroy your Engine.

The EPA has approved adding 15 percent alcohol to what is called “regular gas.” It is supposedly fine for use in 2013 models, but very harmful to vehicles manufactured before 2012.

The Obama Administration is pushing it because it complies with their environmentalist agenda. It destroys the older gasoline burning cars they hate and promotes the sale of new small cars such as the Chevy Volt that government pays people to buy.

Fox Business reported that E15 is currently being sold in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. Motorists are warned to be observant when you pull in to the pump and be sure you are not pumping E15 into a car older than 2012. Several car manufacturers have announced that use of E15 will void warranties in their cars, or that they will  not pay for repairs caused by the alcohol in E15.

Motorists should check with their dealer for detailed prohibitions.

The manufacturers listed by Fox Business were Ford, Chrysler, BMW, VW, Honda, Nissan, KIA and Toyota.

An automotive expert who was guest on Fox Business said the government is paying subsidies to farmers to grow corn for fuel and “a lot of money is changing hands.” It is also pushing up the cost of all corn products and meats, because beef, pork and poultry are produced from corn.

It is reported that the alcohol is so corrosive that it is transported in stainless steel trucks and mixed with gasoline at the pump. After settling, the alcohol tends to go to the bottom and burns first, causing damage to the fuel system. After the alcohol is burned off, the octane rating is reduced three points to eighty four and further causes damage to older engines.

Ethanol alcohol produces one-third less energy per gallon than does regular gasoline. The more ethanol the fewer miles per gallon.

Boat owners were the first to demand ethanol free fuel, because  the 10 percent ethanol was destroying boat engines. It was also destroying the engines and fuel systems of lawn mowers and chain saws. As a result, some gas stations in South Carolina offer fuel with and without ethanol. A few sell only pure gasoline as motorists experience expensive repair bills on late model cars.

One astute observer noted: “The EPA has an environmentalist agenda. AAA is interested in their members, the motoring public. The wise car owner will listen to warnings from the AAA and recognize that the EPA would prefer you ride a bicycle.”
