Check Given towards Historic Slater Hall in Marietta, SC

On November 1, Greenville County Parks and Recreation representatives received a check for $42,000 to renovate the historic Slater Hall. The state funds were secured by Representatives Mike Burns and Dwight Loftis, Senator Tom Corbin, and Councilman Joe Dill.

Built in 1938, Slater Hall has been the home of the Slater Community Center since reopening in 2010 under the direction of Greenville County Rec. The community center offers a wide variety of programs, including summer day camp for children, a full slate of senior programs, concerts, festivals, and other community events.

"It is a historic building, built as the centerpiece of the community," said Rep. Burns, adding that the renovation will especially benefit the children of the community.
