Prince-and-Chip-HowardOn the final evening of the historical four-day Greenville visit by His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, a private VIP reception was held at White Oak, historic home of Furman University President. The event served as a thank you to the sponsors of The Duke of Edinburgh Foundation Award.

A local Dignity Memorial Provider, Woodlawn Funeral Home, was a proud sponsor of the event. Chip Howard, Manager & Senior Director, was among the select invitees at the reception waiting to be presented to the Prince in an adjoining room. "When the doors open and you actually see the Prince waiting for you to enter the room, it definitely has a profound impact on you." "You'd better master the correct forms of address and protocols before you enter," says Howard whose professional life embraces his love of formality, ritual and ceremony. In 2005 Howard was invited to attend Queen Elizabeth's birthday ceremonies in London.

The Duke of Edinburgh's Foundation Award was founded by the visiting Prince's father, HRH Prince Phillip, the Duke of Edinburgh, husband of the reigning Queen Elizabeth II, some 50 years ago. The program is an exciting self-development program available to young people ages 14 to 25.
