GREENVILLE, S.C. – Several Bob Jones Academy students were top finishers at the annual Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) State Competitions hosted by Bob Jones University, Nov. 1-3. Participants from BJA included winners oboist Bryn Carrier (Senior Woodwinds) and euphonist Daniel Leedy (Young Artist Brass).

“We are proud of Bryn, a current BJA senior, and Daniel, a BJA graduate, for this accomplishment. We congratulate both of these students recognizing the amount of time they have invested in honing their skills,” said Bob Jones Academy administrator Dan Nelson. “What a blessing it will be to see how each uses his and her talent for the glory of the Lord.

The two winners and one representative will advance to the Southern Division competition round which will involve winners and representatives from nine southern states. Regional winners will compete at the national competition in Spokane, Washington in March 2019.

The MTNA National Student Competition features some of the most promising young performers in the nation. The contest provides a platform for music teachers and their students to be recognized by their peers for outstanding musicianship. Students can compete in composition, brass, piano, string, voice, woodwind and chamber music.

Founded in 1927, Bob Jones Academy is an independent Christian school in Greenville, South Carolina, serving students in preschool through twelfth grade.
