House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler is going to hold hearings on obstruction by Donald Trump and those around him. Nadler tells the press, “Before you impeach somebody, you have to persuade the American public that it ought to happen.” Nadler would not be saying that if he thought the Robert Mueller investigation would yield them grounds for impeachment.

When you consider how quickly the Democrats and press moved on from the Michael Cohen testimony, you realize that they know Mueller is not going to give them the silver bullet they were looking for. The Russian collusion story looks more and more like a Democrat myth.

Or consider this opinion piece at CNN, which begins the punditocracy effort to tamp down expectation on what Mueller will deliver. The problem, you see, is the law itself.

When Robert Mueller delivers his final report to the Justice Department, he will be constrained from what he can say because of the Special Counsel regulations that govern his appointment.

Democrats have spent a year building up expectations for the Robert Mueller probe and proof that collusion happened. Then Michael Cohen, last week, burst the bubble. He had no knowledge of it and refuted key portions of the Christopher Steele dossier.

So now Democrats are going to have to get their hands dirty and conjure up their own impeachment charges.
