Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) applauded the Trump Administration for rightfully designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a Foreign Terrorist Organization (FTO):
“Designating the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, including the Qods Force, as a Foreign Terrorist Organization is the right move to continue putting pressure on the dangerous and deadly Iranian regime. This is an issue I have worked on for many years in Congress, so I’m proud President Trump and Secretary Pompeo took this unprecedented action for our national security.”
Congressman Jeff Duncan’s legislation, the Countering Iran in the Western Hemisphere Act, was signed into law on December 28, 2012. The bill states that it is U.S. policy to use a comprehensive strategy to counter Iran's growing hostile presence in the Western Hemisphere by working together with U.S. allies and partners in the region to deter threats to U.S. interests by Iran, the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the IRGC's Qods Force, and Hezbollah.
