INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

Charleston Republican McKinney is Candidate for SC Lt. Governor

Pat-McKinney-with-DonnaPat McKinney is a retired business executive and has never before sought public office. He is seeking the office of Lt. Governor and has built a base of support across the state and raised in excess of half a million dollars for the campaign.

McKinney was introduced to the ladies and their guests at the Poinsett Club by Club Vice President Linda Garner. He was described by Garner as having strong faith, family values, work ethic and is very involved in his community.

McKinney said his childhood experiences and parents taught him “hard work, self-reliance and personal responsibility.”

He was taught that if he wanted his prayers answered, he should get off his knees and hustle.

He asked his dad when he was going to take him to get his drivers license. His dad responded that he would have to make a phone call before he could give an answer. After the phone call his father asked: “Do you have $127?” Pat answered in the negative and his father responded: “Adding you to my insurance policy will cost $127. When you have the money, I’ll take you to get your license.”

“I got off my knees and I hustled,” McKinney said.

He sold Bibles during the summers to pay his way through college.

With a group of partners they bought Kiowa Island in 1988 and sold it last year.

He has served on the Furman University Board of Trustees.

He wants to work closely with Gov. Haley to transition to Gov. and Lt. Gov. running and working as a team in 2018.

He pledged to save taxpayers $400,000 by eliminating the Lt. Governor’s security detail.

Directing the State Office on Aging is one of the primary duties of the Lt. Gov. “The Office on Aging is an important responsibility of the Lieutenant Governor. I will assure that our seniors have an effective voice in State Government,” McKinney pledged.
