The Bible says in Psalm 33:12, “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.”  (King James Bible)  The Bible also says in Proverbs 14:34, “Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.”  (King James Bible)

No longer are the halls of Congress filled with men of high moral character.  Yes, we still have many people in Congress who have good moral character, but this number is quickly dwindling.  It is heartbreaking to hear about those in Congress who were elected by the people of this country who have become moral failures.  Many of our Founding Fathers were remarkable leaders because of their love for Jesus, family, and country.  They were selfless servants of the people.  But today many of those elected to Congress have become selfish masters of the people.

The Bible says in II Timothy 3:1-6, “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.  2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthank-ful, unholy,  3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,   4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;  5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.  6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,” (King James Bible).

The moral failures in Congress not only affect themselves, but also affect family, friends, and their constituents.  For example, U.S. Senator (Shameful) David Vitter from Louisiana allowed his immoral appetite for a prostitute to bring a terrible stain upon himself that took away his self-respect and the respect others held for him.  U.S. Senator (Bathroom) Larry Craig from Idaho, brought about his demise by trying to solicit a homosexual relationship in an airport bathroom.  Recently, U.S. Senator (Traitor) John Ensign from Nevada, committed adultery with the wife of one of his top assistants that worked in his senate office in Washington, D. C.  (Bathroom) Larry is back in Idaho hiding out somewhere.  (Shameful) David should have resigned and went back to Louisiana and stayed out of politics.  (Traitor) John should stop crying in public and at least be man enough to resign and to do something honest like doing the work of a rancher somewhere in Nevada.

Governor Mark Sanford betrayed his wife, children, and the state of South Carolina.  Unfortunately (Benedict Arnold) Mark lowered himself to become involved with a Jezebel husband stealer.  If he is truly repentant for the tremendous damage his adulterous act has caused, he would gladly resign.  If he doesn’t resign, the General Assembly must impeach him.

Robert Livingston of Louisiana and Newt Gingrich of Georgia both had to resign as Speaker of the House because of their immoral folly.  If this is not bad enough, there are three announced sodomites serving in Congress.  I would dare say that there are some unannounced ones there also.  The list of immoral episodes involving Congressmen known and unknown continue unabated.  It would shock Americans to know of all the offenses committed by members of Congress as law-breakers that have been and are being prosecuted.

Edmund Burke said, “What is liberty without wisdom and without virtue?  It is the greatest of all possible evils; for it is folly, vice, and madness, without restraint.  Men are qualified for civil liberty in exact proportion to their disposition to put moral chains upon their own appetites…  Society cannot exist, unless a controlling power upon will and appetite be placed somewhere; and the less of it there is within, the more there must be without.  It is ordained in the eternal constitution of things, that men of intemperate minds cannot be free.  Their passions forge their fetters.”

This is not just a Republican or Democrat issue; this is an individual moral issue that our country must face about those it elects.  Americans must first consider the moral character of those campaigning for public office.  We have too many Hollywood style politicians running for office who have no solid foundation as conservative leaders.  Too many Americans vote for who appeals to them rather than how they stand on the issues of today.  This is why we have crooks, thieves, adulterers, sodomites, and you name it and we have it in public office across this land.

The Bible says in 2 Chronicles 7:14, “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”  (King James Bible)

America was founded upon Biblical principles.  Our Founding Fathers were men of great character who fought for our freedoms.  Many of our nation’s political leaders are men who are guided by the prevailing politically correct attitudes, which have morally bankrupted this nation.  Sad to say, America’s leadership in the world today has sunk to an all-time low ebb.  Over fifty million unborn babies have been butchered in the mother’s wombs in our nation.  The wicked act of sodomy is being promoted throughout America’s public school system, while the Bible cannot be read in the classroom and prayer was kicked out many years ago.

The problem is that we have too many politicians who are more concerned about the next election instead of what’s right to do.  John Jay, who was the first Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court, said, “Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation, to select and prefer Christians for their rulers.”

The Bible says in II Corinthians 7:10, “For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.”  (King James Bible)  The Bible also says in Romans 10:9, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”  (King James Bible)
