This month marks another anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic. For generations, this tragic story has captivated hearts and minds. The loss of the Titanic left a shaken world in disbelief and made people stop and think. I, personally, became deeply intrigued by the Titanic from the moment I learned of the story as a young child.
I believe this is one of those rare, historic events that provides a myriad of timeless lessons. The most obvious is the sinfulness of human pride and arrogance...clearly present in almost every aspect of the story.

What does it mean to you to be a Christian? When you hear someone say they’re a “Christian,” what does that actually mean? Does it mean they attend a church on a regular basis? Does it mean they grew up in a Christian family and believe in God? Does it mean they once prayed a “sinner’s prayer” — perhaps as a child at summer camp? I ask these things because when people tell me they’re a “Christian,” I have to wonder, because “being a Christian” doesn’t seem to mean what it used to mean.

I’d like to begin today by reading a bit from Matthew 24. Jesus was on the Mount of Olives and He was explaining to His disciples about the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem. That particular event came to pass in 70 AD, and many Bible scholars will tell you that all of Matthew 24 took place at that time.
But the disciples asked a follow-up question: “What shall be the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the world?” Obviously, the end of the world didn’t come in 70 AD when the temple was destroyed, so what Jesus said next, I believe, relates to the very last days, or as Scripture says, “the end of the world.” Jesus’ second coming. Let’s read together, verses 4-12:
“And Jesus answered and said unto them, ‘Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in My name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
Beware the Fake News — On Both Sides

I was recently contacted by one of our readers of Wisconsin Christian News, and asked to report on the devastation of families caused by fake news. Specifically, regarding “Q Anon.” This man told me about a family that he and his wife were close to, that was torn apart because the wife followed Q Anon posts “religiously,” watching videos of “Q” from the moment she got up in the morning until bedtime, and even following “Q” videos with headphones while in bed.
Initially, I admit, I found this hard to believe, as I was pretty sure that “Q” had been entirely debunked and lost all it’s followers after the 2020 election. In fact, by 2021, most of the social media platforms had removed “Q” completely. So, I didn’t know it was even still a “thing.”
