On September 4th, my fifth grandchild was born...a tiny, beautiful, sweet and adorable baby girl.  When our daughter went into labor, my wife and I rushed to their city so we could be there to support them — and, of course, so we could meet our new granddaughter as soon as possible.

At the hospital, my wife and I took turns holding the baby, so precious and perfect, so beautiful. So sweet. Neither one of us wanted to give her up when it was time to take turns holding her. Our daughter and her husband — though exhausted from a long delivery time — wanted their own turn to hold their baby too.  So, we reluctantly handed her back. 

When it was time for Mom and baby to be discharged from the hospital, we helped the family get settled in at home, and again, got to love that perfect little baby for as long as we could.  It was hard to say goodbye when it was time to go.

In a few weeks, our sixth grandchild is due, and as grandparents, we are so greatly blessed. Psalm 127 reminds us, “children are a heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is His reward.” Just as all of our children were (and are) so greatly loved by my wife and me, all of our grandchildren are precious gifts from God. They’re deeply loved, cared for and nurtured — and these little ones are such incredible blessings. We thank God for each one.

Every time I get the chance to hold one of my grandkids, my heart is bursting with love and joy.  Indeed, as Scripture teaches, grandchildren are the “crown” of the aged. And, as we read in John 16, “A woman, when she is in travail, hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a baby is born into the world.”

God designed families this way. He created us male and female and told us to be fruitful and multiply. Within God’s perfectly designed natural family, lies a picture of His great love for each of us. As much as we love and treasure these precious little ones, it’s hard to comprehend that our Heavenly Father has blessed us so intensely that He allows us to participate in and experience the creation of new life — through the bonding of husband and wife into one flesh in holy matrimony, which culminates in the birth of our cherished little ones. Truly, the heart of God Himself must burst with boundless joy as each new child is born.  If they’re precious to us, imagine how precious each of these little souls are to Him.

It’s inconceivable that anyone would ever harm an innocent child. For those that do, there’s no punishment adequate enough. Even a millstone around the neck seems insufficient.

I remember October of 1994. Our daughter — the one who just gave us our fifth grandchild — was six months old at the time. On October 25th, news reports came from South Carolina that a car-jacking had occurred. Susan Smith claimed she had stopped at a red light, and a man forced her out of the car, and took off, with her two young children still in their car seats. That never happened. Still, the nation watched, prayed and hoped for the safe return of Michael, age three, and Alexander, 14 months.  It wasn’t long before we learned what had really happened.

Throughout her life, even as a teenager, she’d had multiple affairs with married men — including her own step-father. Then, in 1991, she married David Smith and they had two sons, Michael and Alex. But Susan’s adulterous lifestyle continued, and by 1994 they had separated. At that time, she was involved with another man, who ended their relationship, stating that he didn’t want kids.

For nine days, she made dramatic pleas on TV news for the safe return of her children. And then, on November 3rd, Susan Smith confessed that she had strapped her children in their car seats and rolled the car into a nearby lake, drowning them inside.  That was 1994 and it was absolutely unthinkable that a mother would so cold-heartedly murder her own babies in a desperate and delusional attempt to keep her affair partner.

She received two life-sentences. After serving 30 years behind bars, she was up for parole in November of 2024, but that was denied. While in prison, she’s had continuous disciplinary problems, including the use of illicit drugs and having sexual relations with prison employees. She’s up for parole again in November of this year.

In 1995, a Puerto Rican woman killed her six-year-old daughter in New York, after the child suffered a lifetime of abuse. The case was described by authorities as the “worst case of child abuse they had ever seen.”  When arrested, the woman confessed to having thrown her daughter head-first into a concrete wall and that she had neither talked nor walked after that. There are more details, but they’re too sickening for me to talk about.

Then, there’s the case of Megan Huntsman of Utah. She was addicted to Methamphetamine and never wanted children. Yet, she conceived at least seven times, never letting anyone know she was pregnant; not even her husband. Between 1996 and 2006, she strangled at least six of her newborn babies, although when caught by police, she stated it may have been as many as 8 or 9 – she couldn’t remember. Her last baby was stillborn. Her husband found the body in their garage.

In 1997, Susan Eubanks of California shot all four of her children in the head. Their ages ranged from 4 to 14 years old. In 1998, Sandi Nieves, also of California, was convicted of using natural gas to asphyxiate her four daughters, aged 5, 7, 11 and 12, then dousing them with gasoline and setting them on fire.

In researching this message, I only meant to go back to 1994 — the Susan Smith case, because it’s the first of its kind I’d ever heard of and I remember that time well, being a young father myself. But I also discovered another case, from 40 years earlier. In 1954, Constance Fisher, who lived in Maine with her husband, Carl, drowned her three children in a bathtub. They were 1, 5 and 6 years old.

Her husband stood by her, and even petitioned for her release from a mental hospital, and she was released in 1959. The couple then had three more children, but in 1966, in another bout of depression, she killed all her babies again. This time, they were 4, 5 and 6 years old. Both times she killed, she claimed she heard a man’s voice telling her to do it.

But the year 1994 seems significant, because each year after that, the list of women who’ve murdered their own children has grown longer and more horrifying.

Starting in the 2000s, there are more cases each year than I could ever mention. Including Andrea Yates, a Texas woman who drowned her five children in a bathtub. The oldest was 7 years old. The youngest, six months. She was reportedly taking multiple anti-depressant pharmaceuticals at the time.

What I’ve found on this topic is astounding. Mothers killing their own children nationwide...and the case numbers increasing every year. By 2021, data bases simply begin reporting “multiple states and various numbers” of children in each case of maternal homicide, because there are so many. Interestingly, there are substantially fewer cases of fathers harming their children.

Then, we reach this year. So far, fifteen mothers have been charged with murdering their children in the US. Seventeen children are dead. Five have survived. Note that these murders are still “alleged,” because most haven’t gone to trial yet. These are all from this year alone.  I’ll only mention a few.

In Louisiana, a woman shot and killed her 1-year-old daughter. In California, a 17-month-old baby was killed. In New Jersey, a woman killed her sons, ages 5 and 7. ln Florida, a mom suffocated her 4-year-old son. Also in Florida, a woman killed her 5-year-old son and put his body in the trash. Another stabbed her six-year-old daughter more than 40 times.

In California, a woman killed her newborn baby immediately after birth. In North Carolina, a 3-year-old boy was killed; his 2-year-old brother survived. In Ohio, a mother killed her two daughters, ages 8 and 10 and put their bodies in suitcases. In Wisconsin, another woman stabbed her 14-year-old daughter to death. Two children, ages 6 and 7 were strangled in Massachusetts. In Alabama, a woman poisoned her 17-month-old son. In North Dakota, a woman stabbed her three children. A 5-month-old and 3-year-old were killed. A one-year-old survived.

Now, we must talk about Lindsay Clancy, because while this isn’t the latest case of a mother murdering her children, it’s the one that’s been covered so heavily in recent weeks, as a mistrial was declared September 4. Clancy confessed to killing her three children in January of 2023. At the time of the murders, she had been taking an extensive “cocktail” of multiple anti-depressant drugs. She claimed she heard a man’s voice telling her to kill her children...just like Constance Fisher in 1954.

That was a normal day for the family — they’d even gone outside and built a snowman together in the afternoon. But then, Lindsay sent her husband out to run errands and pick up a take-out order of food for dinner. When he returned, he found his wife had jumped out a second story window — she survived the fall, but is now paralyzed from the waist down. But then he discovered the real horror — before jumping, Lindsay had murdered all three of their kids in the basement of their home, one by one, by strangling them with an exercise band.

Can you imagine this woman, looking into the eyes of little Cora, 5 years old, while she choked the life out of her? And then Dawson, age 3, and then Callan, 8 months old. It would have taken sustained strength — and time — to do this. Five minutes for each child. Imagine the horror in each of their eyes as their mother — the one who was supposed to love them the most — cold-heartedly looked back at them for five full minutes, until each one was dead.

Evidence shows this was pre-meditated murder, yet 11 of the 12 jury members wanted to declare her “not guilty by reason of insanity.” Nine of the 12 jurors were women. After a week of deliberation, a mistrial was declared, because one man, could not, in good conscience, consider her “not guilty.” On September 29, a judge will decide if another trial is in order.

All these women may have been depressed or psychotic. All were taking some type of drugs — most on multiple prescription drugs, and some on illicit “recreational” drugs. At least two of them heard voices telling them to kill.

What the media will never tell you is that all these killings of innocent children were demonic. Drugs — which God’s Word calls “Pharmakea” and which means “sorcery” — were involved in all cases. Demons spoke directly to some of these women, telling them to kill. You don’t need to be a Bible Scholar to understand that Satan desperately wants the blood of the innocent. He wants our children dead.

It seems Satan knows that women are more easily influenced by his schemes. Remember, he went after Eve in the garden, not Adam. 2 Timothy 3 talks about “captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.”  Today, we have women proudly celebrating the fact that they’ve killed multiple babies in the womb. They even wear T shirts proclaiming their joy over this. A fundraiser for Lindsay Clancy raised more than a million dollars. What did her babies get? Dead. That’s what they got. Today, one in four young women nationwide believe abortion should be legal up to the moment of birth. Many others believe post-birth “abortion” (infanticide) should also be perfectly acceptable.

Our nation has descended into sheer madness. We try to cure this madness with drugs, and whether those drugs are legal or not, they’re all mind-altering. The side effects are extensive and horrifying, but most people pay no attention to those warnings. Combine that with the fact that women, in particular, are targeted by Satan and the demonic realm, and what was once unthinkable, and certainly unspeakable, is quickly becoming commonplace here in America.  So much so, that I doubt you ever heard about the fifteen mothers here in the US that killed their children just this year alone, before I told you about them today.

Romans 1 and 2nd Timothy 3 speak of people being “without natural affection.” This is more than just the abomination of homosexuality. Today, even mothers are without natural affection and love for their own children.  The satanic coercion is thick. When are we going to understand this spiritual warfare that’s been raging — and ramping up so quickly now, that murder in the womb and “gender reassignment” is considered “healthcare,” and premeditated murder of innocent children is now “a woman’s right to choose?”  This is our world today, and it’s not “progressive.” It’s demonic, straight from the pits of hell.
