Trump and Venezuela: It’s a Lot More Than Oil
- Details
- By Joseph M. Bianchi
The present situation in Venezuela seems to be a foreign policy conundrum: Maduro is in custody, but the country is still extremely unstable. Trump has been promulgating a “Make Venezuela Great Again” idea by having their vast oil reserves under the control of the US government as well as American oil companies who have had a rough ride with the country.
However, underneath the alleged benefits of having Venezuela sell their reserves exclusively to the US, there is a game of chess going on that needs to be pointed out—and applauded.
First, some background.
Stark Violence: An Aberration or Human Nature?
- Details
- By Joseph M. Bianchi
The senseless killing of men, women and children in Australia in a horrific anti-Semitic and anti-human act. Hollywood icon Rob Reiner and his wife having their throats cut while sleeping in bed—by their own son.
These shocking situations appall anyone who has a sense of decency and humanity.
But they beg the question: are these acts an aberration that we should think is infrequent and circling on the periphery of society, or are they part and parcel of human nature?
After Trump: Will America Make a Hard Left?
- Details
- By Joseph M. Bianchi
With New York City electing an openly avowed socialist, and Democratic sweeps of the New Jesey and Virginia elections, is it possible the rest of the country will follow suit in the 2028 Presidential election?
This is an important, and perhaps an obvious question that must be asked.
To say that the country is politically divided is like asking if the Pope is Catholic; Charlie Kirk is assassinated and there seems to be a revival of conservativism on college campuses along with evangelical Christianity, whilst “No Kings” rallies and anti-ICE protests heat up.
The question will be is the shift to the Left a blip on the radar screen coming from states that are already “Blue,” or an actual movement, a more tectonic shift, that portends a national change?
Hamas Is Not the Greatest Threat to Israel—Political Unrest Is
- Details
- By Joseph M. Bianchi
By all intent and purposes, you would think that the menace continuing in the form of Hamas would be the prime existential threat to Israel. A torrid war has been raging for some two years to neutralize them and return the hostages that they have brutally taken and treated.
But you would be wrong.
The greatest threat to the Jewish state is internal unrest, so significant, that it could shatter Israeli society into fragments, of which, no one could put the pieces back together.
Witness the protests of last March when Netanyahu put a major effort into dismissing Shin Bet chief Ronan Bar, along with AG Gali Bharav. Or perhaps the protest over the judicial overhaul legislation.
The Idaho Murders: When Justice Fails
- Details
- By Joseph M. Bianchi
Over the past few decades Americans have been inundated with the news of violent crimes. It has gotten to a point that when a new horrific crime is announced in the news cycle, it is greeted with a shrug or yawn.
Such, however, was not the case when four University of Idaho students were brutally murdered in the early hour of November 13, 2022.
The four students, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin were viciously stabbed to death while they slept in an off-campus housing. However, one of the students, Xana Kernodle, appeared to have fought back as many of her wounds were defensive.
