If Voters Only Knew Some History

Last April, a candidate for reelection to his House seat was asked during a town hall meeting to estimate how many in the U.S. Congress were “card-carrying Marxists or International Socialists.” Without hesitation, he responded, “There are about 78 to 81 members of the Democratic Party that are members of the Communist Party.” He pointed to their membership of “the Congressional Progressive Caucus.” His frankness drew immediate attention, not only from media representatives locally, but some nationally.
The congressman who pointed the finger at this sizable number of colleagues is Allen West, the representative of Florida’s 22nd District, which is situated in a portion of southeastern Florida that includes Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. The response likely cost him his reelection. In the very tight 2012 race, he lost by a few thousand votes and didn’t concede defeat until almost two weeks after Election Day.

Attorney Kyle Duncan on website: The Company Will Continue to... Remain True to their Faith, it is not their Intention, as a Company to Pay for Abortion-inducing Drugs
Faced with threats of fines as high as $1.3 million per day, Hobby Lobby, the Christian-owned company ordered by Supreme Court Justice Sonya Sotomayor to comply with the pro-abortion provisions of Obamacare or face stiff fines has, according to their attorney, decided to defy the mandate.
In a statement posted on the company website, attorney Kyle Duncan said, “The company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees. To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.”
At least a dozen lawsuits have been filed by Christian owned and operated companies and institutions.

Why the Founding Fathers Matter
- Details
- By Tom DeWeese
It has become typical in school text books, in public discussions, and in the smug wisdom of Progressives, to diminish the words and actions of those who led the founding of the United States. However, now that the nation has gone through what Al Gore called a “wrenching transformation” away from limited government, free enterprise, and individual liberty (all major ingredients to making the US the freest and most prosperous nation in history) it’s time to listen again to their wisdom.
