Senator Jim DeMint introduced Senator Marco Rubio to the audience during the Silver Elephant Banquet in Columbia on Saturday night. DeMint had encouraged Rubio to run against a popular moderate Republican.
“When I launched my campaign for the U S. Senate in 2009, I was considered a long shot and was predicted to lose big.” Rubio said. “But we prevailed on a pledge to stand up to Washington’s reckless spending and its assault on the free enterprise system. Today, I’m proud to represent Florida in the United States Senate where I’m working to fulfill my promise to restore fiscal discipline and give job creators more certainty and confidence to open new businesses or expand existing ones.”

Bill Introduced by Sen. Jake Knotts Would Remove Political Parties From Primary Filing Process
Chairman Betty Poe and Officers of the Greenville County Republican Party held an urgent special called meeting Monday night with House members of the Greenville County Legislative Delegation to formulate plans to block House passage of a Senate passed election bill sponsored by Sen. Jake Knotts.
The bill that would strip political parties of their candidate selection authority and give it to Election Commission bureaucrats was rushed through the Senate. It was proposed as a solution to the problems created by conflicting laws and an arbitrary court decision that removed more than 100 primary candidates from ballots due to a technicality that had been previously ignored. The bill received unanimous approval of the Senators voting who had little time to read or discuss the fallout from implementation of the legislation.

RINO Hunt Launches “Operation Lost Vote”
Lexington County State Senator Jake Knotts, who allegedly had a part in creating the fiasco that resulted in some 180 candidates being deleted from the June 12, 2012, primary ballots has succeeded in blocking any attempt by lawmakers to put challengers back on the ballots.
The only hope left for the would-be candidates at press time was the possibility of a delay in the primary date by a panel of three federal judges in order to allow time for corrected ballots to reach service members overseas. It has been alleged that the election commission only sent ballots for federal offices to the troops from South Carolina stationed overseas.

The number of candidates impacted was an estimate.
