Four New Conservative Congressmen to join Joe Wilson and Senior Democrat James Clyburn in Washington
Nikki Haley will be the first woman governor of South Carolina as the winner of one of the most vicious elections in the Palmetto State’s history. The daughter of immigrants was the target of personal attacks that could not be proven true or false. Voters were led to believe that legally requested extensions in filing tax returns was somehow a failure to pay taxes, although it is routinely used by business and personal taxpayers each year.

Sally Wheeler was presented the “Mary Anna Custis Lee Award” by Mosalena Marlar, president of the Varina H. Davis chapter, South Carolina Society, Order of the Confederate Rose and Vice president of the South Carolina Division, Order of the Confederate Rose, “in recognition of demonstrated selfless service and dedication to others.”
In addition to her service within the OCR, Marlar commended Mrs. Wheeler’s selfless service and dedication outside the OCR.

Plans are humming along for the Olde South Christmas Ball to be held here in Greenville at the Greenville Marriott on December 11.
Since our initial announcement, several exciting developments have transpired. First, in commemoration of the sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) of the War Between the States, the Museum and Library of Confederate History will be loaning us its original lithograph of the Ordinance of Secession for display at the ball. Also, an 1860 New York Times newspaper highlighting the South Carolina secession will accompany the historic Ordinance. Don’t miss viewing these rare artifacts!

Flag Retirement Ceremony by Sons of American Revolution Followed
It was a cool sunny Sunday afternoon when guests gathered on the grounds of Woodlawn Funeral Home for a first class Veteran’s Day Ceremony featuring music by John Hoppe and the Swing Shift Combo, the Grumpy Old Jazz Men and Miss Courtney Arnold vocalist.
Following a musical prelude, Joint Color Guards from the Sheriff’s Office, Marine Corps League and SAR presented and posted colors.
Henderson Defeats Smith in District 21 GOP Primary

Will Face Democrat Smith in December 14 Special Election
Phyllis Henderson defeated Keith Smith in the October 26 GOP runoff to represent District 21 in the South Carolina House of Representatives. Only 8.63 percent of the registered voters in the Eastside Greenville County District voted in the primary. Henderson and Smith had been the two top vote recipients in a special primary to pick a replacement for the late William Wylie who died in office. Henderson, the Republican nominee, will face Democrat Susan Scarborough Smith in a December 14 special election.

Gilstrap, Other Women Candidates Victims of Alleged Illegal robo-call push-polls
Judy Gilstrap, District 26 Democratic candidate for the South Carolina House of Representatives, confirmed Monday night that she has been the victim of robo-call push-polls and was informed by SLED that a warrant for the arrest of Robert Cahaly was imminent.
No information was provided regarding who Cahaly, a professional political operative, was working for or with.
16th Regiment SCV Welcomes New Members

The 16th Regiment, South Carolina Volunteers, Sons of Confederate Veterans of Greenville, South Carolina, welcomed two new members, Ernie Kinard and Vince Hall to their ranks during their October 28 meeting at the Phoenix Inn.
Vince Hall of Aiken, South Carolina, whose Confederate ancestor was Private Montgomery Wayne Hitt who served in Company B, 2nd South Carolina Infantry and whose grandfather Buck Hitt is an officer in the 16th Reg. joined the camp.
