Letter from Piedmont Women's Center Lenna Smith
- By Lenna Smith
Dear Friends,
Last Spring, you heard my announcement that God has me on a new journey called retirement, starting in a few months. My husband and I are excited to see how God will use us in this next season of our lives. The last 26 years of serving as CEO for Piedmont Women’s Center (PWC) has been an exhilarating spiritual adventure! I will miss seeing you at banquets, 5Ks, and when you stop in to visit. I always enjoyed your phone calls and praying for you! But it’s now time to hand over my wonderful relationship with you to another person who will love you, pray with you, and lead this ministry well!
What’s Missing in Church?
- By Ben Graydon
If your church were not there, would anybody miss it? If so, what would they miss about it?
When you go there, are you excited – thrilled, even – at the reflection of Jesus that you see in the face of others, and do they see that same reflection in you? Or do you talk about the weather, last Friday’s ball game, the new bull, or Uncle Andy’s gout – anything but the One Who built His body (ecclesia) upon the rock of Himself?

Breast Thermograms Available
- By Press Release
LIVING WELL INTEGRATIVE MEDICINE
838 POWDERSVILLE RD, SUITE G
EASLEY SC 29642
TEL: 864-850-9988
On Thursday, September 27, 2018, she will be performing screening breast thermograms and appointments are available.
Breast Thermography is a noninvasive, inexpensive test that does not involve breast compression or radiation exposure. While it does not replace mammograms, thermography is FDA-approved since 1982 as an adjunctive tool for breast health screening. It measures infrared heat from the tissues, using technology like color weather maps; increased heat can be a signal of new blood vessel growth feeding a tumor. Thermography can enhance early detection of most fast-growing breast cancers, and is especially useful for women with dense breasts or premenopausal.
The initial Breast Thermogram results are interpreted by Board-Certified Medical Doctor, and mailed to the client within 10 days. A copy of the interpretation can go to your physician of choice. Please call for pricing.
Please call 864-850-9988 to make an appointment.
Mission Houses
- By Heather Sheen
If someone asked you what a “mission house” is, what would you describe? I think we would all agree that a mission house is a place where people are ministered to, and a place from which missionaries go out. But what does one look like? Having spent eight years in the Southwest, my first mental image is one of those cute little Spanish missions. Perhaps you would tell about a church or an inner-city outreach center.
But what about your house? Have you ever pictured your family’s home as a mission outpost? Recently our pastor preached about our homes being gospel mission houses and I gained a new appreciation of the concept. We can not only use our homes as places to minister to people, we can see them as places from which to send out our family as missionaries to the community.
The Late Hit on Judge Kavanaugh
- By Pat Buchanan
Upon the memory and truthfulness of Christine Blasey Ford hangs the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh, his reputation, and possibly his career on the nation's second highest court.
And much more. If Kavanaugh is voted down or forced to withdraw, the Republican Party and conservative movement could lose their last best hope for recapturing the high court for constitutionalism.
No new nominee could be vetted and approved in six weeks. And the November election could bring in a Democratic Senate, an insuperable obstacle to the elevation of a new strict constructionist like Kavanaugh.
Anti-Trump Kavanaugh Accuser Has Axe to Grind Making Her Not Credible
- By Christian Newswire
WASHINGTON -- Democrats are up to their old tricks again. They did it to Clarence Thomas. They did it to Judge Roy Moore. They have done it to President Donald Trump.
Now, Sen. Diane Feinstein has trotted out the latest woman with claims of abuse, this time against Judge Brett Kavanaugh.
Feinstein reportedly held a letter since July from accuser Christine Blasey Ford detailing an alleged attack on her by Kavanaugh when they were in high school three decades ago. Suspiciously, Feinstein remained silent through the confirmation process and hearings until just days before a scheduled vote on his nomination.

Standing Springs Baptist Church Turning 200 Years Old
- By Press Release
On October 18th of this year Standing Springs Baptist Church in Simpsonville, SC will be 200 years old. Standing Springs was started as an “arm” of Fork Shoals Baptist Church. It was organized on September 18, 1818 and the first service was held on October 18, 1818.
There were 10 charter members. Arguless, Elizabeth and Rachel Henderson, William Mayhall, Rhonda Moore, Thomas, Delila and James Richardson and Christopher and Hannah Robbins.

The church facilities are in the same location but the acreage has grown to over 42 acres with several buildings.
Do Democrats Trust Midterm Polling?
- By David Limbaugh
If midterm election polls increasingly show that Democrats are poised to regain control of the House, then why are liberals in panic mode? What do they know that we don't -- or that they don't want us to?
The highly touted opinion poll analyst, FiveThirtyEight, released an election update video reporting that Democrats have an 82 percent chance of winning a majority of the House in November. The narrator breathlessly reveals that this is the first time their forecast has given the Democrats more than an 80 percent of winning the House since the launch of the model.
Yet an MSNBC panel was apoplectic over President Donald Trump's approval rating, which remained constant despite an avalanche of negative news stories concerning legal developments on Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen. Some liberals were sure those would puncture Trump's approval rating.
Reasoning About Race
- By Walter Williams
So much of our reasoning about race is both emotional and faulty. In ordinary, as well as professional, conversation, we use terms such as discrimination, prejudice, racial preferences and racism interchangeably, as if they referred to the same behavior. We can avoid many pitfalls of misguided thinking about race by establishing operational definitions so as to not confuse one behavior with another.
Discrimination can be operationally defined as an act of choice. Our entire lives are spent choosing to do or not to do thousands of activities. Choosing requires non-choosing. When you chose to read this column, you discriminated against other possible uses of your time. When you chose a spouse, you discriminated against other people. When I chose Mrs. Williams, I systematically discriminated against other women. Much of it was racial. Namely, I discriminated against white women, Asian women, fat women and women with criminal backgrounds. In a word, I didn't offer every woman an equal opportunity, and they didn't offer me an equal opportunity.
The Unpardonable Heresy of Tucker Carlson
- By Pat Buchanan
Our diversity is our greatest strength.
After playing clips of Democratic politicians reciting that truth of modern liberalism, Tucker Carlson asked, "How, precisely, is diversity our strength? Since you've made this our new national motto, please be specific."
Reaction to Carlson's question, with some declaring him a racist for having raised it, suggests that what we are dealing with here is not a demonstrable truth but a creed not subject to debate.
Medicare for All Means Freedom for None
- By Tabitha Walter - Eagle Forum
Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) introduced his Medicare for All Act (S. 1804) last year, but Democrat campaigns have recently ramped up support for it. This single-payer healthcare system idea is hitting a note with the public. A Reuters-Ipsos survey found that 70% of Americans support a Medicare for all policy. Of this percentage, 85% were Democrats while 52% were Republicans. These numbers are extremely troubling as we see a movement toward socialism.

Obama’s Tired Rhetoric Is a Flashback to Globalism
- By John & Andy Schlafly
Barack Obama’s return to the campaign trail is a violation of tradition and common sense. His tired rhetoric on globalism is a powerful reminder of how fortunate we are without him and the Clintons in power.
“Global governance” was the pejorative title of a video produced by Phyllis Schlafly in the ’90s that successfully converted the concept into an object of scorn. Yet here is Obama recycling Bill Clinton’s discredited push for world government at a time which most nations are rejecting it.
