North Greenville University to remain fully open for Fall 2021 semester.

North Greenville University (NGU) is planning to remain fully open for the fall 2021 semester; the school announced to its students and community on Monday.

The joint message came from University President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr., and the COVID-19 Response Team. The university has been able to hold face-to-face classes, in-person campus activities, athletic competitions, internships, fieldwork, and clinicals during the current 2020-2021 academic year and is planning carefully to regather in the fall with the same expectations.

"About a year ago, we said we were going to cling to God's providence and God's protection. We prayed that God would give us wisdom as we tried to decide what to do during this pandemic. Because our community followed our carefully developed protocols, we have been able to conduct traditional programs and enhance other university activities," President Fant said in a video address to the campus community.

Fant said, "As we think about the coming fall semester, we'll continue to monitor and revisit protocols where appropriate, but we expect to be open as usual with in-person instruction."

"We are deeply grateful for God's protection from the global pandemic and for the hard work of the COVID19 Response Team, work which first began over a year ago to serve the University. As our weekly updates have noted, we continue to see mild cases overall and are hopeful that the vaccine rollout will ameliorate cases quickly. We appreciate everyone's willingness to follow the protocols that have worked so well," said Fant.

NGU plans to remain in contact with students over the summer break to assist them in the transition into the fall 2021 semester.

Starting August 13, all residence halls will open to new students. Returning students will begin moving in on August 16, with undergraduate classes beginning Thursday, August 19. NGU's Online and graduate programs will start on August 16 at NGU's Tim Brashier Campus in Greer.

The University plans to operate on the regular academic calendar for the Fall 2021 semester.

Saturday, August 13 – New Student Orientation and Move-in

Monday, Aug 16 – First day for graduate and online classes
Thursday, Aug 19 – First day for undergraduate classes
Friday, October 15 – Monday, October 18 - Fall Break
Wednesday, November 24 – Friday, November 26 - Thanksgiving Break

Details for NGU's Fall 2021 Opening Plan will be available to the community this summer.

"We'll be ready for a great new year and a great future that God is leading us into," Fant said.
