Removing the Arlington Confederate Memorial
- By Mike Scruggs
More Woke-Hate Politics in the Making
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2021 was enacted on January 1, 2021. This included creating a commission, called the Naming Commission, to rename all military assets with names associated with the Confederate States of America. According to the 2021 NDAA, within three years of its enactment, the Secretary of Defense is required to implement the plan developed by the Commission to "remove all names, symbols, displays, monuments, and paraphernalia that honor or commemorate the Confederate States of America or any person who served voluntarily with the Confederate States of America from all assets of the Department of Defense.
President Donald Trump vetoed this NDAA because of the Naming Commission, but his veto was overridden by Congress.
Renaming nine Army bases are the most famous targets of this Woke-Hate Commission: Fort Benning, Fort Bragg, Fort Gordon, Fort A.P. Hill, Fort Hood, Fort Lee, Fort Pickett, Fort Polk, and Fort Rucker. The list of woke-hate renaming targets is far more extensive and includes Navy ships, West Point buildings, and almost anything remotely touching slavery. As if this sort of Reconstruction meanness is not enough, on September 19, 2022, the Naming Commission recommended that the Arlington Confederate Memorial be dismantled and removed. What next?

Divine Providence: Truth or Fiction? A Few Post-Thanksgiving Reflections
- By W.H. Lamb
That is a question for the ages, isn’t it? Most of us, I’m sure, have heard that term used our entire lives as Christians and as Constitutional Patriots. But what is “Divine Providence”, really, and has it changed the course of mankind’s history over the ages? The Christian blog, “GOT QUESTIONS”, answers the question, “What is Divine Providence?” as follows:
“Divine Providence is the governance of God by which He, with wisdom and love, cares for and directs all things in the universe. The Doctrine of Divine Providence asserts that God is in complete control of ALL things. He is sovereign over the universe as a whole (Psalm 103-19), the physical world (Matthew 5:45), the affairs of nations (Psalm 66:7), human destiny (Galatians 1:15), human successes and failures (Luke 1:52), and the protection of His people (Psalm 4:8). This doctrine stands in direct opposition to the idea that the universe is governed by chance or fate.”

The GOP's Hunter Biden Probe Is Legit
- By David Harsanyi
As a tactical concern, the House GOP's decision to open an investigation into Biden family corruption is questionable. It promises limited political return. It would serve Republicans, and the country, far better if the House focused on a hyper-politicized Justice Department that targets the political opposition, labels concerned parents "domestic terrorists" and ignores violence aimed at pregnancy centers, for starters.

Traumatic Executions vs. Therapeutic Abortions
- By Tim Graham
When National Public Radio appeals for donations, it explains its mission is "to create a more informed public -- one challenged and invigorated by a deeper understanding and appreciation of events, ideas and cultures."
That's fancy talk for one-sided propaganda. NPR listeners aren't "challenged and invigorated" by two sides of a controversial issue. They're pushed to a "deeper understanding" of how conservatives are dead wrong ... subsidized by taxpayers.

Does the Bible Teach a Flat Earth?
- By Charles Creager, Jr.
In recent years there have been claims that the Bible teaches a Flat Earth. There are even modern-day flat earthers who pushed this claim as support for their flat Earth of claims. You have probably heard that Columbus proved that the Earth was round and that he was opposed in his voyage but Bible-believing Christians who thought the earth was flat based on the Bible. However, none of these claims are actually true neither does the Bible teach Flat Earth. On the contrary, you can actually use the Bible to support a spherical rotating earth.

After 2022 Setback, GOP Race for 2024 Is Wide Open
- By Josh Hammer
The 2022 midterm elections were, by any objective measure, tremendously disappointing for Republicans. As has already been discussed ad nauseam, the "red wave" that so many -- yours truly included -- had predicted simply did not materialize. The reasons for that are numerous; no one individual, one institution or one specific systemic failure is to blame. There is, in short, a lot of blame to go around here. Because while Republicans actually (SET ITAL) won (END ITAL) the national popular vote by roughly four points, there is no way to describe their historically awful first-presidential-term opposition-party midterm performance, in which the GOP lost almost every high-profile state-level "swing" race, as anything other than disastrous.

Casualties and Propaganda in the Russia-Ukraine War
- By Mike Scruggs
Truth is the First Casualty of War
In 1918, during World War I, California Republican Senator Hiram Johnson remarked that “The first casualty, when war comes, is truth.” A similar statement was made in the British Parliament early in the war by MP Philip Snowden, probably in 1915 : “Truth, it has been said, is the first casualty of war.” This was published in a 1916 book, Truth and the War, by E. D. Morel. Senator Johnson, having a high interest in avoiding war, would probably have read this book and may also have been influenced by the scholarly British writer, Samuel Johnson, who in 1758 wrote:
“Among the calamities of War may be justly numbered the diminution of the love of truth, by falsehood which interest dictates and credulity encourages.”
In her 1809, Memoirs of an American Lady, Anne MacVicar Grant wrote:
“Truth is the first victim to fear and policy; when matters arrive at that crisis…all the kindred virtues drop in succession.”
A like quote is sometimes attributed to the Greek tragedian and soldier, Aeschylus (526 BC-456 BC): “In war, truth is the first casualty.” But an Aeschylus play may also have expressed, “God is not averse to deceit in a just cause,” which has helped sow the poisonous seeds of much evil propaganda.
