Steve Pettit, President of Bob Jones University, was the keynote speaker at the Grand Opening of the Major Ruldolf Anderson, Jr. American Legion Post 214 and Cecil D. Buchanan Museum of Military History.

Steve Pettit is a Christian Patriot and a graduate of both The Citadel and Bob Jones University.

During his address, he announced that Bob Jones University is expected to offer a military science program that will award officers commissions to Army and Air Force ROTC within the next two years.

US Senator Tim Scott provided a United States Flag flown over the US Capitol for the new Taylors Legion flag pole during the Grand Opening.

JROTC Color Guards from J.L. Mann, Carolina, Mauldin and Southside High Schools participated in the program

The Army National Guard Band and the Doug Young Choral Group provided live patriotic music for the historic event.

The Museum will be free and open to the public seven days a week.

There will be veterans present to discuss displays, artifacts and the Four Pillars of the American Legion: Veterans, Defense, Americanism and Youth.

The museum will be open to the public the following hours: Sunday 1-5 p.m., Monday 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., Tuesday 2-6 p.m., Wednesday 12-4 p.m., Thursday 5-9 p.m., Friday 2-6 p.m., and Saturday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
