Judy and George meet up at the church one evening for marital counseling at the behest of Pastor Phil. George thinks that Judy has texted him to come, and Judy thinks that George has texted her to come. By the way, Pastor Phil never does show up.
What's going on here? Who has set up this counseling session? After a few minutes of bickering, George leaves to go home so that he can watch a basketball game on TV, leaving a weepy Judy all alone in the otherwise dark, vacant church – but not for long.
California Wildfires: Climate Change Symptom, or Consequence of Bad Policy?

- By Joshua Arnold - The Washington Stand

Southern California wildfires continue to blaze out of control, besieging the Los Angeles basin from the north and west. Fire hydrants in Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and elsewhere ran dry as firemen strove to defend entire neighborhoods all at once. Hurricane-force winds and an unusually dry winter have already taken 10 lives and destroyed thousands of buildings — including celebrity homes — in what may be the costliest wildfire season to date.
Some celebrities have vented their frustration against the governing officials who presided over this disaster. “We pay the highest taxes in California,” complained actress Sara Foster. “Our fire hydrants were empty. Our vegetation was overgrown, brush not cleared. Our reservoirs were emptied by our governor because tribal leaders wanted to save fish. Our fire department budget was cut by our mayor.” Sarah Michelle Gellar wrote, “City of LA you want everyone to evacuate yet you have complete gridlock and not one traffic cop on the roads helping.”

Mondale’s Eulogy Rewrites History

Last week’s eulogies for Jimmy Carter included honoring some of the mistakes he made as president, such as Carter’s giveaway of the Panama Canal. Walter Mondale’s son read his father’s tribute to Carter, which included this whopper: “He proposed and signed the law extending the period for states to approve the Equal Rights Amendment, which now, finally, has been ratified by three quarters of the states.”

This is her letter to the SC Senate Medical Affairs Committee regarding Gov. McMaster’s recent nomination of Dr. Edward Simmer as the Director of the new Public Health Department:
Dear Chairman Verdin and Committee Members:
I appreciate so much the efforts you provide within the Medical Affairs Committee on behalf of the health of South Carolinians.
I am writing to let you know that I strongly oppose the nomination of Dr. Simmer to head the newly created Department of Public Health for the State of South Carolina.
China’s Invasion Barges Signal Potential Invasion of Taiwan

(Worthy News) – China is reportedly building “D-Day style” landing barges specifically designed to deploy People’s Liberation Army (PLA) vehicles onto Taiwanese beaches, suggesting preparations for a potential full-scale invasion, according to the UK Telegraph.
Naval News reported that up to five landing barges are under construction at Guangzhou Shipyard in southern China. Resembling the Mulberry Harbours from the World War II Normandy invasion, these barges feature novel designs and rapid construction. Although a smaller prototype surfaced in 2022, the current batch has only recently appeared.
Since 2022, China has developed landing barges that can be built in months, providing a key capability to connect nearly any ship to the shore.
