The shutdown is going to get more painful as it continues. Lots of conservatives had said they haven’t seen any signs of the shutdown affecting them. Only the most willfully naive will continue to say that as the shutdown continues. Ever longer lines at airports, etc will start to become more noticeable. Economically, things will become more noticeable.

But the President has to see this through.

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer intend to break him. They are refusing to compromise with him because they want to break him and expose him as a man who will even betray his base. They want President Trump to give up the wall and border security both Pelosi and Schumer have long supported because they oppose Trump, not the policy.

The President must stand firm.

The media will demand he give up. All the stories out are already hostile to the President. But the President must continue every day saying the same thing — Pelosi and Schumer can restore government by compromising, which they are refusing to do.

When the media confronts Republicans about federal workers seeing unemployment, etc., they can repeat the same line — they would not be in this position if the Democrats were willing to compromise.

This must be about the Democrats’ refusal to offer any compromise on border security. They claim the very wall they once funded is now immoral.

Democrats must compromise. The President must stand firm. If the President gives up this fight after all of this with nothing, he will be weak. His voters will remember this. He must stand firm and insist the Democrats accept a compromise for border security.
