I was out having lunch at a local restaurant where I saw a couple of policemen lunching with their wives. I was about finished my lunch and my wife was still working on her dessert. I got up and walked over until I was less than six feet away from the officer facing me. He looked up at me, our eyes met; I motioned to myself, to him and his friend and said, “We love you guys.” He gave me a big grin, a strong “thank you” and reached and shook my hand—a no-no these days. The other officer turned and offered his hand and I shook it.

I’m wondering how President Trump is handling all the many facets he has to be facing when he gets out of bed each morning. For now he has to be the Uncle Sam we are depending on to help us out of the mess we are in. We have a few others who think they play Uncle Sam better than Trump does, specifically a local House Chairperson with her mighty gavel who tells us we first have to pass a Law before we can find out what’s in it. She has another play-like Uncle Sam who thinks he should be the Senate leader instead of the republican who holds that chair. No one but God really knows what those two would do if they were in Trump’s position, and they seemingly don’t believe even God knows.

BACK WHEN I was working for the government (1961 forward) I began seeing politics introduced into the working agenda. Early on, jobs assigned were well managed and the work-quality was a major concern. Everyone’s product was selectively reviewed for correctness and quantity was measured. Within a year or two I noticed things beginning to change; Civil Rights entered the picture. The difficulty of the tests used for the selection of potential employees was reduced because minority candidates were unable to pass the existing test in sufficient numbers to meet hiring quotas, which the public was told didn’t exist.

I read the newspapers, I watch the news on TV, and what I see is a nation at war. It is not at war against a well defined enemy. It is a war between good and evil, where evil often masquerades as good and tries to portray good as evil. It is a war that the Bible tells us is older than mankind, a war that has its origin with the rebellion of Lucifer, who would supplant God as the ruler of the universe. God will not be supplanted. So, Lucifer, as Satan, wages an on-going battle to win the hearts and souls of men to his cause, which is ever and always rebellion against God.
