New service makes requesting a jury duty postponement more convenient for Greenville County residents.
Greenville County Clerk of Court Jay Gresham announced the launch of a new online service allowing residents summoned for Circuit Court jury duty to submit postponement requests electronically, providing a more convenient way to communicate with the Clerk of Court’s Office.
The new feature, developed through more than a year of work, allows prospective jurors to submit requests directly to the office’s Jury Services Department. Previously, requests were handled through a more manual process.
“Jury service is one of the most important responsibilities we have as citizens, and our office takes its role in that process seriously,” said Gresham. “At the same time, I believe government should be looking for practical ways to make things easier for the people we serve. We’ve worked on this improvement for more than a year, and I’m pleased to see it become a reality.”
The service is part of Gresham’s broader efforts to modernize the Clerk of Court’s Office, improve operational efficiency, and expand public access to court services. Other initiatives have included digitizing Family Court filings, expanding online court information, and introducing digital signage throughout the Circuit Court and Family Court buildings.
Eligible jurors may request a one-time transfer to another term of court, subject to applicable requirements and approval. Submitting a request does not automatically postpone jury service. Jurors must continue following their original summons unless notified that a change has been approved.
Residents can access the postponement request service through the Clerk of Court’s website at: https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ClerkOfCourt/PostponementOfService.aspx
“Our responsibilities are significant, and there’s a great deal of work that goes into keeping our courts running,” Gresham added. “I’m proud of our employees and the progress we’re making together to build a more efficient, modern office for Greenville County.”
