Vietnam-Wall-Memorial---Mobile

The Nashville Connection Heroes Salute has teamed up with the esteemed sponsors Heritage Funeral Home and Mr. William Stubbs to bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, a portable scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, to Greenville’s TD Convention Center for public display June 27-July 1st. The four- day tribute provides a moving opportunity to honor, respect and remember the men and women of the US Armed Forces who served in the Vietnam War.

On Wednesday, June 27, there will be an official motorcycle motorcade escort of the Traveling Vietnam Wall from Mauldin to the TD Convention Center beginning at 1 pm. This escort will be led by thousands of Patriot Guards, Rolling Thunder, and Greenville Police force through the streets of Greenville.  At 2:30 pm, there will be an Official Wall Dedication Ceremony for the public and the press. The Wall will be on display beginning at noon on Thursday, June 28 through noon on July 1st for 24 hours a day.

The portable WALL stands 6 ft. in height at the center and gradually tapers to 4 ft. panels at each end. The Traveling Vietnam Wall is a total length of 252.4 ft., slightly less than the length of a football field.  With the addition of three names to the WALL in May 2002, as of January 1, 2003, there are 58,228 names on the portable WALL, the same as the Wall in Washington, DC.

American Veterans Traveling Tribute travels the USA with the Cost of Freedom Display which includes displays from every war up to the present, a 9/11 Salute, the Gold Dog Tag Display, our President’s Display to provide a forum for the members of the community to come together to honor, respect and remember all those whom we have asked to stand in harm’s way to protect and defend our great country. These soldiers are the true American Heroes and we have an obligation to pay tribute to them by celebrating the freedoms they fought for and stand to ensure. The American Veterans Traveling Tribute allows those without the means or ability to travel to our great national memorial sites to pay respect and share in the experience of honoring our heroes.

The Gold Star Moms whose mission is our Veterans will be there to serve and to assist our Vietnam Veterans as they walk and pay tribute to the WALL.  Many of our Veterans have never experienced or seen the WALL, by choice.  Now is their time to be escorted to the WALL and we, as a community, should be there to experience this and to assist them as they make that step of healing.

Our Patriot Guards, Rolling Thunder, and our Veterans will be carrying out the logistics and guarding of the WALL and we thank them from the bottom of our hearts.

Tune in to Fox and Friends on June 17th at 8:00 am to see national coverage of The Nashville Connection!
