Republican State Representative Bill Chumley announced today that he will seek re-election to the South Carolina House of Representatives. Rep. Chumley has served in the House since 2011 representing District 35.
“We’ve made some positive steps towards furthering reform in this last term,” Rep. Chumley said. “In the House I’ve been able to work closely with other conservatives and I am proud of the things we’ve been able to accomplish. The most important, and certainly most controversial, issue has been efforts to stop Obamacare in South Carolina.”
Rep. Chumley said that without a doubt stopping the further implementation of Obamacare has been the biggest part of his efforts. “I’ve had to make some tough calls and take some challenging votes, but everything I’ve done has been focused on the goal of limited government, lower taxes, and more personal freedom.”

With a cut to 450,000 troops, the army will be at the lowest strength since 1940, a year before the outbreak of World War II. Marines will lose a substantial number of combat troops. The Air Force and Navy will lose several important weapon systems.

Duncan Introduces Resolution Condemning Common Core
- Details
- By Press Release
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan (SC-03) introduced H. Res. 476, which denounces the use of federal coercion to lure states into adopting Common Core academic standards. The companion resolution to Senator Lindsey Graham’s S. Res. 345 also underlines the importance of returning education to the states.
“Common Core is one of the most frequent concerns I hear from parents when I’m traveling across the district. Parents and teachers alike are alarmed by this top-down approach to education that wrongly ties education money for states to the adoption of academic standards that do not fully reflect the values of South Carolina. Beyond the most important constitutional issues with federal education standards, many education leaders have been raising concerns with the content of the standards themselves.”
