Three New Senators, One New House Member Join Delegation

Legislative-Delegation-11-12

The Greenville County Legislative Delegation was given the oath of office and sworn in by Supreme Court Associate Justice John Kittredge during their November meeting Monday night at Greenville County Square.

Three new state Senators and one new House member were among the lawmakers taking the oath. All other participants were reelected incumbents.

The delegation elected officers for the new session of the Legislature. Senator Mike Fair was reelected Chairman, Rep. Bruce Bannister, Vice Chairman and Rep. Gary Smith, Secretary.

Rep. Tom Corbin replaced Phil Shoopman as State Senator representing Senate District 5 in Northern Greenville County. Senator Ross Turner replaced Sen. David Thomas in Senate District 8, and Rep. Karl Allen replaced Sen. Ralph Anderson in Senate District in Senate District 8.

Allen was replaced in House District 25 by Leola Robinson-Simpson, a former member of the Greenville County School Board. A special election will be held in House District 17 to replace Corbin.
