“This agenda is destroying America, and I’m tired of it,” Butch Taylor, president of the Greenville County Taxpayer’s Association said, addressing the County Legislative Delegation that had just sworn to uphold the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of South Carolina.

Taylor was holding a copy of the published United Nations Agenda 21 in his raised hand as he spoke.

“For the past fourteen years I have been sounding the alarm about Agenda 21 and Sustainable Development. Alabama got rid of Agenda 21 and South Carolina needs to get rid of it too.”

In the 5-minutes allowed, he gave examples of the implementation of Agenda 21 in the county, bypassing the normal legislative safeguards. “They are stealing our money and violating our property rights,” he concluded. “You must stop giving them money.”

Along with a packet of literature on Agenda 21, Taylor gave the Lawmakers a proposed resolution designed to “protect citizen’s property rights.”  He said each member of the Legislature would be given an opportunity to sign the resolution. “We will see how many of you have the courage” to live up to your oath of office.

“You took an oath tonight to protect, preserve and defend the constitution of this state and of the United States. No where in the Constitution does it say we have to bow down and kiss the feet of the United Nations.”

Supporters of Agenda 21 have created a regional organization circumventing elected bodies. This unelected group at some time is expected to claim to represent the citizens of 10 upstate counties with regard to implementing parts of Agenda 21.
