In ‘An Unholy Alliance,’ Dr. Youssef traces the Red-Green convergence eroding the West’s Judeo-Christian foundations
ATLANTA — Dr. Michael A. Youssef, founder and president of Leading The Way, has released a new book arguing that an alliance between progressives and Islamists is eroding Western civilization.
In “An Unholy Alliance: How Progressivism Brought About an Islamist Invasion,” Dr. Youssef, a cultural anthropologist who grew up in Egypt under an Islamist-socialist regime, examines a “Red-Green” convergence — a partnership between Western socialist movements and Islamist activism that, he says, exploits democratic freedoms to dismantle the institutions protecting them.
Trained at Emory University and shaped by decades of global ministry, Dr. Youssef combines academic research with firsthand experience to trace how the alliance works through what activists call the “Omnicause” — merging climate activism, identity politics and anti-Christian sentiment into one movement.
The book documents financial and ideological networks Dr. Youssef says sustain the alliance, including Qatari funding of U.S. universities and the election of socialist-Islamist politicians in major American cities. He argues Western moral relativism has left a vacuum filled by radical absolutism, leaving the West vulnerable.
The trends Dr. Youssef documents are already visible at the ballot box. CAIR reports a record 255 Muslims now hold elected office nationwide, and a CBS News poll found that 53% of Americans view democratic socialism favorably, with only 12% holding a negative view. That cultural shift is translating into electoral gains: the election of New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani, along with the growing ranks of candidates like Abdul El-Sayed, Chris Rabb and James Talarico, who have won primaries on platforms sympathetic to socialism and Islam.
“This is not an alliance built on shared values. It is a marriage of convenience between two ideologies that agree on one thing: tearing down Judeo-Christian civilization,” Dr. Youssef said.
Despite its warning, Dr. Youssef said the book is not meant to discourage readers. Grounded in a biblical worldview, “An Unholy Alliance” closes with compassion for those who are spiritually lost and held captive by radical ideologies.
“I have written this book as a wake-up call for the Christian church — and for all of Western society,” he wrote in the book’s prologue. “There is work you and I can do — work we must do — to preserve our Judeo-Christian heritage and our civilization for generations to come.”
The book also offers a 12-point action agenda to help Christians and other freedom-loving citizens respond with moral clarity and conviction.
“An Unholy Alliance” is available now on Amazon, LTW.org or wherever books are sold.
