INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

House Resolution of Disapproval Passed 240 to 179

The U. S. House passed a resolution of disapproval of S. C. Rep. Joe Wilson for shouting an accusation of lying at President Barack Obama during a nationally televised joint session of Congress.

The outburst came when Obama stated that his health care plan would not provide free medical care for illegal aliens.

Wilson was irritated by the statement because Democrats in the House had repeatedly voted down amendments offered by Republicans to exclude illegal aliens from free health care.

Seven Republicans voted with the Democrats on the measure. The seven siding with the Democrats against Wilson included Fourth Congressional District Rep. Bob Inglis of Greenville who has at least three opponents in the upcoming Republican Primary nest year.

Third District Rep. Gresham Barrett, a Republican running for Governor of South Carolina, failed to vote.

Eleven Democrats joined the majority of Republicans and voted against the criticism of Wilson.
