INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

We are pleased to report that legislation has been introduced in South Carolina to further protect our monuments from mob-rule.  Representative Dwight Loftis has introduced House Bill 3632 which requires any illegally toppled monument to be put back in place.  If a local government fails to put the monument back up they can be sued by local heritage organizations.  Additionally it establishes mandatory minimum sentencing for those that damage our monuments.

It is important to note that this bill is largely in-line with the action we called for at our press conference in October.  This bill has now been referred to the House Judiciary Committee.  Charlestonian Peter McCoy is the Chairman.  We need this bill to be signed into law.  Please contact your local state representative and ask that they be a co-sponsor of the bill.  We currently have 11 sponsors of the bill.

Please encourage others to join at www.americanheritageassociation.org.
