INDEPENDENT CONSERVATIVE VOICE OF
UPSTATE SOUTH CAROLINA

The Koch political network has informed allies and donors that they will not support President Donald Trump’s re-election campaign in 2020, according to a report from The Washington Post.

The report states that Charles and David Koch have spent the last few months indicating to donors that they will not support Trump’s re-election bid, and instead will remain neutral during the 2020 presidential race.

The Koch brothers have become a fixture in politics over the past decade and have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to help elect Republican candidates during that time period. However, the libertarian-leaning brothers have been frequent critics of the president and did not support him in 2016. Still, the Koch’s aren’t expected to stay on the sideline during 2020, and will instead focus their resources on House and Senate races.

Koch spokesman James Davis told The Washington Post that the Koch network still plans to make a “significant investment to support policy champions in Senate, House and state races, build broad-based policy coalitions, and to launch a major new initiative to fight poverty in America.”
