Congress Has Agreed on the first Six Permanent Appropriation Bills for Fiscal Year 2024
- Details
- By The John Birch Society

Congress has agreed on the first six permanent appropriations bills for fiscal 2024. These bills amount to 1,050 pages, $450 billion in spending, and would fund the Departments of Agriculture, Interior, Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, Veterans Affairs, Justice, Commerce, and Energy. These bills utterly fail to reduce spending, at a time when the national debt is rising by $1 trillion every 100 days. Furthermore, all of the departments listed above are unconstitutional, as is the vast majority of this spending.
Congress is Pick-Pocketing Americans

Congress can’t seem to shake its spending problem. On Wednesday, the House passed six out of twelve spending bills, packaged into one bill called a “minibus,” to the tune of over $450 billion. That is $70 billion over the caps established by House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) earlier this year and $30 billion more than former Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) 2023 levels. Keep in mind, the total national debt is $34.5 trillion and the federal deficit for this fiscal year is already $531 billion – meaning the government has already spent over half a trillion dollars more than they have brought in through taxes!
Why is Greenville County Council Pickpocketing Us Again?

- By Michelle Shuman - Greenville County

That is the estimated multi-billion-dollar question that remains to be answered. For review our County Council has for many years budgeted approximately $12 million a year for the roads program. This is in addition to the public works and engineering departments. However, they have for years only been using a portion of that money each year for actual road repair. Instead, they take portions to pay down debt, buy equipment, and do other “road related” items. (At the March 4, 2024. Committee of the Whole meeting, Chairman Tripp once again tried to make everyone believe the County is spending the full $12 million on roads. Once again, he shows us he hasn’t read this year’s budget or any other budget. This year the amount is only $11 million, and they are only actually going to spend 55% of the $11 million on fixing roads.)
Alabama Embryo Ruling Trickles Up to Congress

Save the Baby Embryos!
A landmark Alabama Supreme Court ruling sent shockwaves throughout the nation on Friday. In a 7-2 decision, the justices ruled that embryos created through means like in-vitro fertilization (IVF) are “minor children” under the state’s Wrongful Death of a Minor Act. This sent Democrats — and a few Republicans — into a tizzy trying to protect the IVF industry. However, the ruling has little to do with IVF and everything to do with the value of life.

A principal in an Oklahoma City elementary school was recently forced out of his job because he performs Drag in his spare time. After Libs of Tik-Tok posted the story, Shane Murnan, who uses the stage name Shantel Mandalay, was asked to resign. Murnan claims he has been a female impersonator “for as long as he has been an educator, and his two careers had never been a concern for an employer before last year,” according to the Washington Post. The controversy has “created an environment of fear among teachers at school,” Murnan told the Post.
Middle America Wakes up to the Left

“Woke” is a shorthand expression that encompasses the radical ideas of the Democrat agenda: critical race theory, diversity-equity-inclusion, “trans” children, elective abortions up to the moment of birth, and the squelching of our speech and ideas.
Do not despair! Americans are not buying what the Democrat progressives are peddling. Americans want the cream to rise to the top and we celebrate true meritocracy. Their “diversity” is employment based on superficial characteristics, not merit. Their “equity” replaces opportunity with predetermined outcomes. Their “inclusion” eliminates rules and discipline. It is no accident that diversity-equity-inclusion is called DEI. DEI is the Latin word for God; those who promote DEI see themselves as godlike.
Stop Resolutions Making Application to Congress to call a [Constitutional] Convention for Proposing Amendments
- Details
- By The John Birch Society

Lawmakers across the country are being beguiled into introducing and passing resolutions making application to Congress to call a convention for proposing amendments to the Constitution, also known as a federal constitutional convention (Con-Con), Article V Convention, or a “convention of states” as some erroneously call it.
Given the current widespread lack of knowledge about the Constitution and understanding of the principles of liberty that undergird it, convening such a convention today is likely to result in far greater harm than any purported benefits — placing our entire U.S. Constitution and republican form of government at jeopardy. Rather than pushing resolutions that apply to Congress for an Article V Convention, state legislators should consider nullification to rein in federal overreach. To safeguard the Constitution, urge your state legislators to oppose all Article V constitutional convention resolutions.
