Washington Center School couldn’t be more thankful for the generous community members that support the school in many ways. Recently, community volunteer David Durbin built a wooden rolling stand for a multisensory board used by Mrs. Ryana Wilson’s students. The stand allows the interactive board to be rolled in and out of the classroom closet during student sensory and leisure time.
With a hurricane battering the coast and a bitter political battle raging everywhere else, Americans could use some good news. This morning, they got it. While the world watched, U.S. Pastor Andrew Brunson, after two long and harrowing years in Turkish prison, was boarding a plane home. Freed, at last.
For the Brunsons, whose excruciating journey began back in 2016 when Andrew was falsely accused of terrorism, it was an emotional verdict. At his trial this morning, he broke down in tears when the millions of prayers offered on his behalf had finally been answered. With his wife Norine in the courtroom, the North Carolina father wept when the decision was announced. "I am an innocent man," he had pleaded during the hours and hours of proceedings. "I love Jesus, I love Turkey."
The Upstate Republican Women celebrated the NFRW Literacy Month in September. In honor of Barbara Bush and Mamie Eisenhower, the women adopted Katy Freemon's first-grade class with a monthly subscription to the Scholastic News Monthly Book Club. Along with this, they presented The Superintendent W. Burke Royster, Ph.D., with several books to be donated to the AJ Whittenburg Library. The National Federation of Republican Women designate September as National Literacy Month in honor of these two First Ladies of the United States who believed so strongly in that being able to read is the foundation of success.
“he American Dream is about equal opportunity for everyone who works hard. If we don't give everyone the ability to simply read and write, then we aren't giving everyone an equal chance to succeed.” - Barbara Bush
"As we celebrate Pastor Brunson's return to his family and his homeland, we must remain conscious of the many others who are imprisoned and whose lives are threatened because of their belief in the Gospel of Jesus Christ."
WASHINGTON -- The Institute on Religion & Democracy (IRD) is celebrating the immediate release of Pastor Andrew Brunson after a Turkish court determined he has adequately served his sentence for allegedly aiding terrorists in a failed coup against President Tayyip Erdogan.
Democratic socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, seeking to represent New York's 14th Congressional District, has called for the abolition of the Electoral College. Her argument came on the heels of the Senate's confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. She was lamenting the fact that Chief Justice John Roberts and Justice Samuel Alito, nominated by George W. Bush, and Justices Neil Gorsuch and Kavanaugh, nominated by Donald Trump, were court appointments made by presidents who lost the popular vote but won the Electoral College vote.
After weeks of the Democrats waging war on the confirmation process of Brett Kavanaugh, he was confirmed 50-48 mostly along party lines. The confirmation came a week later than planned after an FBI investigation was called. The investigation found nothing new, but gave Senators who were on the fence the extra motivation they needed to vote for him.
The fanfare is not over yet, though. Democrats have no plans of letting this win go, and Republicans are furious at the political shenanigans that continue to take place. Democrats have continued to fuel violent protesters who have harassed Senators in public, sent extreme messages to their families, and tried to break into the Supreme Court.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster has announced that Dillon Team South Carolina Day will be held Tuesday, October 16 in Dillon, South Carolina. Team South Carolina days provide local residents and businesses affected by Hurricane Florence with a one-stop opportunity to learn about relief resources available to them.
PHILADELPHIA -- "The world would not know the name of Kermit Gosnell if it were not for Cheryl Sullenger," said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue.
Sullenger attended the now infamous abortion/murder trial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the spring of 2013. She was the first journalist outside local news affiliates to report daily on the proceedings' shocking revelations and often-emotional testimony to a national audience. Her reporting sparked a Twitter storm that was responsible for drawing national media to cover the trial.
COLUMBIA, S.C. – As the need for immediate life-safety and disaster response resources begins to subside across the state, agencies are beginning the transition to normal, daily operations. Tropical Storm Michael is continuing to move rapidly out of South Carolina. Forecasters report the threat of tornadoes has ended and the threat of minor flooding is diminishing.
The State Emergency Operations Center will remain partially activated at Operation Condition Three to support county emergency managers as requested. Isolated flooding in areas prone to flooding is expected. Officials continue to monitor river levels. Minor to moderate flood stages can be expected over the weekend.
Bob Jones University invites families in the Greenville community to the third annual U.Day Saturday, Oct. 13, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the front BJU campus.
“U.Day is fast becoming an area tradition and we are excited to bring this exciting, learning experience back for this year’s Homecoming and Family Weekend,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “Our faculty and staff have outdone themselves once again to put on a wonderful event for the community.”
As of Aug. 31, the state of South Carolina was sitting on nearly $312 million in revenues from the gas-tax-hike law that took effect more than 15 months ago – despite promises from lawmakers that the money would go toward fixing crumbling roads.
Newly released records from the S.C. Department of Transportation and state Comptroller General’s Office show that of the approximately $362.3 million collected since July 1, 2017, $15.8 million, or less than 4.5 percent of the total, was spent on listed “external” projects.
The thrilling confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court fulfills the vision of Phyllis Schlafly in her early endorsement of Trump. By trouncing the radical feminists in this high-stakes battle for the Supreme Court, President Trump has transformed the Republican Party just as Phyllis wanted.
Kavanaugh’s 50-48 confirmation by the Senate was also a victory for the rule of law over rule by a mob. “You don’t hand matches to an arsonist,” Trump declared afterwards, and “you don’t give power to an angry leftwing mob.”
He’s standing in the self-check-out line at Walmart plugging pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters from his children’s piggy banks into the cash register just to buy a few groceries. He has no job and has not been able to get one, but he doesn’t qualify for government programs and would not, on principle, take that support even if it were available. Where is the church?
WASHINGTON -- Life Legal attorney John Garza was in court this morning on behalf of four "Red Rose Rescue" defendants who were charged with criminal trespass after they entered Capital Women's Services in Washington, DC in July. The rescuers went to the abortion facility to give the women information about abortion and alternatives, along with a red rose.
The Red Rose Rescue case was the first case called by the judge, which is unusual since typically courts elect to dispense with procedural and other less time-consuming matters before calling up trials such as this one. The judge asked the parties whether they were ready for trial and U.S. Attorney Jana Maser, prosecuting the case for the government, replied that she was not ready, as she could not produce any witnesses.
Someone please tell me what bizarro world Democratic activists inhabit -- those who are grumbling that Republicans are unscrupulous partisan warriors imposing their agenda by government coercion and trampling the innocent, passive left in the process.
This is frighteningly delusional and shockingly divorced from reality.
Without question, Democrats and their never-Trump supporters on the right would have us believe that Donald Trump is the very creator of partisan politics, someone who has gobsmacked the unsuspecting collegial political left into abject impotence.
Was Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi murdered inside the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, and then his body cut up with a bone saw and flown to Riyadh in Gulfstream jets owned by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman?
So contend the Turks, who have video from the consulate, photos of 15 Saudi agents who flew into Istanbul that day, Oct. 2, and the identity numbers of the planes.
Supporting the thesis of either a murder in the consulate or a "rendition," a kidnaping gone horribly bad, is a Post story that U.S. intel intercepted Saudi planning, ordered by the prince, to lure Khashoggi from his suburban D.C. home back to Saudi Arabia. And for what beneficent purpose?
WASHINGTON -- Rep. Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee has always distinguished herself as a pro-life warrior. She chaired the House Select Panel on Infant Lives in 2015 and personally signed the letters to the U.S. Department of Justice referring Planned Parenthood and others for criminal investigation and prosecution based on evidence of the illegal trafficking in aborted baby body parts and intentionally killing babies born alive during late-term abortions.
LOS ANGELES -- Christian filmmaker Ray Comfort--whose award-winning movies have been seen by millions--decided not to release ten minutes of interview footage after being threatened with a lawsuit by famous magician and atheist Penn Jillette.
The encounter, which took place on a public sidewalk in Washington, DC, in 2016, was filmed when Jillette approached Comfort and asked him about the existence of God. The filmmaker had just finished interviewing the well-known atheist and theoretical physicist Professor Lawrence Krauss for his latest movie when he was approached by Jillette.
S.C. Senate president pro tempore Hugh Leatherman appeared relaxed and confident before last week’s votes, at one point smiling and giving a thumbs up.
Leatherman, R-Florence, didn’t make any long speeches in asking his Senate colleagues to override Gov. Henry McMaster’ vetoes of parts of a state budget proviso directing a total $7.1 million to Francis Marion University.
And, in two quick votes, Leatherman, who has a science building on Francis Marion’s campus named after him and whose daughter sits on the university’s board of trustees, got what he wanted.
Historically, there were two parties in America; the Republican Party with many of the warts Washington births and nurtures, and the defunct Democratic Party that has mutated into an uncontrolled, win at any cost organization of extreme Socialist ideologues who've opted from the rule of law and abandoned the Constitution. It's an organization that aids and abets harassment, intimidation and physical assaults against anyone who disagrees with them both in their public and private lives.
ATHENS, Tenn. -- Walter Francis Fitzpatrick, III, U.S. Navy Retired, USNA Class of 1975, submits the following and is available for comment:
The complaint was made to Special Agent Mark Irwin, member of the East Tennessee Joint Terrorist Task Force, on the afternoon of 5 April 2018. The ETJTTF is vested with joint federal and state jurisdiction, populated by Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) special agents.
Bob Jones University invites the Greenville community to Homecoming and Family Weekend Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 11 to 13, on the BJU campus.
“Homecoming and Family Weekend is one of the highlights of the year for the University family,” said BJU President Steve Pettit. “Throughout the three-day celebration, we invite the community to join us for memorable events for all ages.”
What if the whole purpose of an independent judiciary is to be anti-democratic? What if its job is to disregard politics? What if its duty is to preserve the liberties of the minority -- even a minority of one -- from the tyranny of the majority? What if that tyranny can come from unjust laws or a just law's unjust enforcement?
What if we have a right to insist that judges be neutral and open-minded rather than partisan and predisposed to a particular ideology? What if presidential candidates promise to nominate judges and justices who they believe will embrace certain ideologies?
It's here.
"Gosnell: The Trial of America's Biggest Serial Killer" debuts in theaters nationwide on Oct. 12. I do believe this groundbreaking film by indie producers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney is the most important movie in America right now -- a true-life saga of good vs. evil, deadly medical malpractice, systemic government malfeasance and cultural apathy toward the most vulnerable members of our society.
I first reported on this real-life horror story nearly eight years ago, but you've probably not heard or read a word about "Gosnell" in the mainstream press, TV news or online. The conspiracy of silence is the result of both malign neglect and active suppression of inconvenient truths:
It was a very exciting time for Eagles to be in our nation's capital with opportunities to stand for Judge Brett Kavanaugh, lobby on the Hill, participate in Leadership/Communications and Student Workshops, tour D.C. monuments at night (and during the day), hear presentations from our many expert speakers, enjoy comments from our special Eagle Award recipients, reunite, fellowship and collaborate together with our wonderful Eagles, meet and make new friends, be encouraged by the wisdom, knowledge, maturity and heart of our Student Eagles, and experience an inspiring Saturday afternoon tour of the Museum of the Bible!
HOUSTON -- Tia Stabenow challenges Christian families through her new book, "Goodbye Workplace. Hello Family!: Helping Moms Find Their Way Home" to realize the critical impact both parents absent from the home has made on society, the church, and the family unit. Stabenow states, "The next generation is borderline inept and incapable of taking a conservative stance on critical key issues of our day as most children are unprepared and haven't had the vital parental influence that shape and mold future leaders for tomorrow."
