Henry Timrod 654 Chapter of the Children of the Confederacy ® held its first meeting on March 17th. This group of children love their heritage and are planning upcoming events and projects.
At the first meeting, two goody bags were filled for two Veterans who are in a nursing home in Spartanburg, SC. The children brought candy, crackers, small gifts, and toiletries to fill the bags. Cards of appreciation were also made. The children enjoyed making cards for Mrs. Margaret Rogers who turns 90 very soon. Mrs. Rogers is a special lady that is a member of the UDC and makes her home in Alabama.
Plans are being made for a Rechartering Ceremony. Miss Charlotte Chumley was named as the new President of the group and she has a fantastic slate of officers. This group will serve the community with historical and benevolent projects.
