Students Denied Credit for Attending the Corsi Lecture

Almost a hundred people showed up at Furman Hall to hear a presentation by Harvard educated New York Times bestselling author Dr. Jerome Corsi, Monday evening. There was a noticeable absence of students in the audience.

A student spokesman said a faculty committee had decided there was a “gap” between Dr. Corsi’s Harvard PhD and his six bestselling books and the topic he was to speak on at Furman. As a result, he was declared unqualified to speak and therefore virtually all of the small group of students in attendance were members of the sponsoring organization – The Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow(CSBT).

CSBT was established in 2006 by a group of students at Furman University “in order to advance the conservative principles that founded and sustained this nation.”

Their purpose was to counter the large left-wing presence at Furman and provide a conservative vision by educating the Furman community and contributing to a vibrant discussion of ideas.

The student organization believes in the virtue of free market capitalism, limited government, traditional values, and freedom from the self-censorship of political correctness.

The relatively small CSBT has become well-known for sponsoring the most high quality conservative speakers and programs in the Upstate.

Future speakers will include Wall Street Journal Senior Economics Editor Stephen Moore, and former UN Ambassador John Bolton.

Stephen Sebastian is Chief Executive Officer and Mary Ann Sane is Chief Academic Officer for Conservative Students for a Better Tomorrow.
